  1. For the next person who has no idea how to do this: take the bulb out and pull, comes right off.
  2. I'll check my parts cars. What engine size may be our best shot?
  3. As many of you know, I am parting out 8 41-49 Buicks and I am working on saving some dash parts for one of our members - he needs the Map Light assembly and the Blower Motor switch out of the dash, along with many brackets behind them. Now, for the life of me, I cannot get the map light switch separated from the chrome pull on the outside of the dash. I don't want to break anything - can anyone steer me in the right direction with these two items?
  4. Dashboard. The pull out switch. I am going to err on the cautious side and make a new post over in the post war subforum...don't want Mr. Earl to still be on the wrong side of me when he sees this post again. 🙂
  5. I'm trying to remove the map light switch from a 49 and cannot for the life of me figure it out. Not wanting to break the bakelite ... anyone with any tips?
  6. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1025561741295469/ This car is complete and would be a great parts car or restored.
  7. I'll only sell you the top one as it is for the Riviera. Just Kidding! I would like $50 for the panel just for my time. That will include the bracket if it exists. This literally bolts to the bottom of the dash all the way to the left. Interestingly, the Riviera fuse block was mounted above the ashtray in the center of the car. The panels are identical and the terminal markings are near perfect on the one I'm sending you.
  8. The top unit is from the Riviera. The bottom one is from the Sedanette.
  9. I have yet to find a bracket beyond the one on the board itself.
  10. Pulling tonight. Been getting slammed here. I will have photos of the parts for you tomorrow.
  11. Pete: They are removed from the car and I need to pack them up. One of the quarter pieces was cracked at the screw. I have all the studs that were loose as well. Scott
  12. Oddly enough, the woman selling the car has made the statement that 'it is not worth much' to the friend she showed it to. She has also remarked several times that her kids feel it is worth a mint. According to the person introducing us, she disregards their notions. The kids are the thorns in my side when it comes to the bonded title I must secure. I don't want to buy the car only to end up with a dispute down the road. I will get more photos and see what we can find out about the car, the condition of the floors, engine, and all of the other aspects of the car. Rumor has it that it lived in California until '72 and was not driven here in the winter for certain. Thanks to all who have chimed in, I appreciate it.
  13. I had a client in town last night. I am going to pull these after work today. I will find the bracket - both of my other 49's are complete and as they were parked 40 years ago. They both have glass in them. Scott
  14. I have an odd question (Maybe?!?) One of my 1947 parts cars, a model 51, has an almost PRISTINE trunk floor. Even the spare tire well is complete and intact! Compared to the rest of the car, it looks remarkably salvageable/usable. So, my question is this: Are the trunk floors pretty simular across the series or does each one have its own stamping? Next up: Will a 1947 Model 51 trunk floor be usable to a person with a 1949 model 76S Sedanette? Trying to help another enthusiest out here. Thank you all for your wisdom and expertise!!
  15. Strangely enough, that's where I am on this one flackmaster! Thank you!
  16. I will try to pull one tonight from one of the other '49 Buicks to compare - I am betting they will be in better shape.
  17. How do I tell them apart? Is there a model designation on a trim tag? Where would one find the trim tag on a 48 Packard?
  18. Folks: I have an opportunity to possibly purchase a 1947/48 Packard Convertible "garage find" that has been parked since 1972. The gentleman who bought the car back in the 70's had intended to restore the car, however, life got in the way yada yada yada. Now, BEFORE you all get angry with me, I do not have the model number or serial number - I am going to go see the car for the first time tonight and will gather that information to be passed along here. The car looks really complete and I was told it was driven in to where it sits under its own power. Car is a standard transmission car. Looks to have power windows and top. There is some minor front passenger side fender damage and the chrome all needs help. Not certain of the floors. Paint is cracking and there is visible rust on one fender that I can see. Title is missing (I would have to bond title the car). So, I have a pretty complete, most likely improperly stored, 1947/48 Packard convertible that I need to price to this man's widow. ANY help will be appreciated. Yes, that is a hose, a ladder, and a cargo carrier on the car!!
  19. Odd question that you may or may not know the reply to: Are these the same on all 49 Buicks? This car has been open to the elements for decades. Yes, I have the part and it would be needing restored. See below: I am working on removing the fuse box. It was horribly hot last night.
  20. I believe they are both there. I took a camera phone shot under the dash. I would need to put something where the floor was supposed to be and lay under the car to get to the fuse panel and bracket/ OR! I could just cut the dash out and carefully take it out.
  21. Looks like it is all there....now how to get it out in one piece.
  22. Looks like that mounts to the lip of the dash under the gas guage, correct? The good news is that area looks intact. I have to clear a bunch of stuff out of there to even get a look. It will be around lunch before I can get the car lifted out of the row and out to where I can open the doors wide enough to look at it. Anything else you needing on this car?
  23. I'll look in the morning. It may be there. I'll let you know.
  24. I should add that this will require truck freight in a crate. Not willing to sell pieces.
