  2. Thanks. I will work on both possible areas. I have already installed a new power trunk release from my Reatta parts car and that did not work. I will remove the lock assembly. And install next But now more pressing issues. The harmonic balancer needs replaced. Will take that off the parts car too. Fun. It’s supposed to be 92 degrees on Saturday
  3. I sent him a PM 2 days ago but I have had no response. I would like to buy the car but have set a budget. I think I offered a fair price, but hope they can maximize their sale no matter.
  4. You will find a lot of knowledgeable folks on the pre war forum. Hopefully they will comment here.
  5. There was a small crack-leak in the plastic fuel line right after it starts to turn upward toward the fuel filter. I had purchased a fuel filter from O'Reillys. I jacked up the car, put down some cardboard and got underneath. I noticed it was dry up by the fuel filter and traced the gas to a spot further down, small drop of gas suspended on the rail. Based on that, I took the plunge and cut off a section about 5 inches long, a section without a curve in it , although I purchased rubber fuel line hose, flexible - I did not want the end that had to be clamped to be in a curve section. I went back to O-Reillys with the section I had cut off (very important for you that don't know why). OReillys found the right size based off the removed splice. It was 50 psi rated rubber fuel line. I purchased 2 feet in case I was wrong I had more hose (plus you never know - now I have additional hose). I installed the rubber line and pushed as much as possible to get the plastic in. I always like a bead but that is not possible with this kind of repair. The hose clamps were standard issue worm clamps, so adequate pressure was exerted on the ends, but not so much that rubber was working through the clamp. I started the car and it was obvious right away that the repair worked and was the "root" cause of the issue. I will install the filter later. It did not look hard, but Saturday time is golden around here and I had other pressing needs. The filter is easy to get at in my opinion, but is connected by quick disconnects, new ones come with the filter. My issue was more the bracket holding it to the frame. I did not want to try and figure that out, and which tools I would need. Thanks to all on this advice. I will tackle the trunk lock deal soon as well, since I do not have trunk at the moment.
  6. I need PM's to provide photos and location. I won't put it on here, but it's a Midwest location.
  7. No photos. I only took photos of the odd bucket seats. This car even has Autronic Eye. It is loaded. You would need to PM for location and contact information. I doubt anyone will buy this car, but I want to say I at least tried.
  8. Thanks everyone. With nice weather anticipated for this weekend, I will get the car up on jack stands and investigate. I hope the fuel filter does not have quick disconnect ends that I need a special tool for.
  9. I think it is a nice appearing wagon. It would have a slight bit more utility than a sedan, so in my opinion, it is a nice compromise between better styling and utility. I used to work at a Subaru dealer and was a technician. They are well made, conservative cars. I would not own an Outback because they have not evolved in years, style wise. But, Subaru owners are uber loyal, so the "crossover" buyer (pun not intended) who might consider a Buick AND a Subaru are few and far between. I always thought "act like you been there." In other words, don't try and copy anyone, just make a great car, market it properly and see where the chips fall. Unfortunately, the modern GM can not get out of it's own way. Meaning, this will be another 2 and done, might go 2 model years, the bean counters will say "nobody is buying this model, it's done" and we will be back to sedans and SUV's. "Well we tried" they will say, but we all know, they did not really try. What does trying look like? Market the car, incentivize getting some on the road so other yuppies can see it and go "what's that?" and put inventory on lots so people can consider it. But the story that started this post seems to indicate almost instant sabotage by GM and the dealers, which leads back to my original point that GM is a moribund corporation that has lost it's way and will never return to the glory days. Yuppies are copiers. When they drive home to their suburban cookie cutter house and see one in the driveway, and like what they see, they will want one to, or at least consider it. This car is different looking, and with smart wheelsets and colors, you could be separated from all of the other Lexus' and such in your enclave. They just fired the Cadillac GM, who came from Infiniti and Opel, after 4 years. Short leash mentality. Meanwhile Mary Barra racks in 8 digit salaries and hires the Canada sales guy to replace him...
  10. No, but that is good news since I am sure there are fuel filters available. Thanks.
  11. I have an active fuel leak from the area under the driver, toward the engine. Not horrible but any gas leak needs attention. Question: If it's the fuel rail (fuel lines) where can I get a replacement for these? Are they not available through a dealer or Rock Auto? I did not see them on Rock Auto but they be named something else. I had a constant battery drain that was the power trunk release in the trunk. I swapped out a known good one, and the constant clicking stopped for a bit, came back and drained the battery. So, short term, I disconnected the power trunk release. Now, of course, I have no access to the trunk. But the battery stays charged. Now I am starting to hear the power door locks engage on and off. Does anyone have any direction on repair? I have a 1990 Reatta Service Manual but it appears I need a body manual, no wiring diagrams. Thanks for your help.
  12. My friend spotted a 1973 Buick Riviera in a pole barn when he went to look at some cars for sale. It is a 1973 Riviera in need of complete restoration but the paint, which was a sort of olive green with half white vinyl top, is in good condition only needing buff out. Interior was fair, with mouse pee odor. Engine complete with air cleaner on. Non running. rallye wheel set. Photos may be available.
  13. A friend of mine spotted a 1963 Electra 4 door hardtop in a farm field. The car was complete, straight and no visible rust but was not inspected too closely. What caught his eye was that it was unusually equipped with factory leather bucket seats and console, factory A/C, 1st year tilt steering wheel, power windows and more. It is white with red interior. Price should be no more than $500.
  14. Usually by this time on Friday, there are at least 1 - 2 threads with National Meet photos. Anyone?
  15. No it won't survive. GM has lost it's way.
