  1. I was trying to remove a wheel today, and I'm having trouble taking off the center "hub" with the "S" on it. All of them are either really tight or stuck really good. I want to confirm that all 4 are righty tighty, lefty loose. I'd hate to be expecting it to loosen when all I'm doing is tightening.

Modern antifreeze is designed for newer cars with pressurized cooling systems.  You should not use large amounts of antifreeze in a non pressurized cooling systems like your Studebaker.   To prevent rust and to lubricate your water pump add a small amount of antifreeze and water soluble oil to your radiator.   If you use to much antifreeze you will experience the issue of foaming.  Also, the antifreeze when foaming and blowing back on your hood and fenders will damage the paint.

So how much antifreeze and water soluble oil should be used? And what kind of water soluble oil do you recommend.

Thanks for that, I looked last night but didn't see them. I have emailed the seller to see what size they are, but I've been talking with Mike West also as he seems to have many. and I don't have to buy 2.

Got a photo of the one you already have so we can see what to look for in our stuff?

I'll need to see if I can find a picture. My lock is at the locksmith across the country at the moment.

Maybe you can keep the lock housing and pull the lock barrel out of it with a slide hammer, like car thieves do to car ignition switches. Then just a new lock ....

Here is what Wallace Safe & Lock said

"Just talked to my tech about your lock.
They cannot get the cylinder to break loose, to pick or remove it. They have tried soaking it in a solution with no change to the lock. We are out of options at this point. We can continue to soak the lock, but in the past its taken months to get something to break free. And at times never.
Let me know if you'd like me to ship your lock back to you or continue working on it."

I'd also have to figure out where to get a new lock barrel that fits it.

When all else fails, contact the professionals. The lock is boxed up and ready to send to Wallace Safe & Lock in Woodland, CA.

Wallace Safe says that the lock cylinder will not break loose to pick or to remove it. So I guess I'll be looking for a new lock.

I'm recently bought some fabric disc from Stephen Munts.

I don't know if he still has stock.

I have some stock coming from him as well. He is also making the baseplate for my steering lever assembly. I know I had to finalize my order pretty quickly so that he could freeze the assets of his business before he completed the sale. Once the sale was complete he was going to let his customers know who bought everything so they would not be without. From what I understand the new owner will also be making the baseplates, levers, and door handles taking over all of that from Steven.

  8. I know I have read this somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now that I'm working on it. The key that I have fits the Tire lock, but doesn't unlock it. There should be a code on the lock somewhere but I don't see it. Where should the key code be? I may wind up unbolting the lock mount from underneath and taking it to the locksmith. The problem I have is cutting them out.  The only solution for me is a razor knife and a punch.  Not terrible to do one but doing six that way is a pain.  Any suggestions on someone that offers this service?  Thanks.

    Scott,

I cut mine on my bandsaw. I made a template on my laser engraver with the size needed and I cut the inner hole and the 4 bolt holes. I then marked the outer size with my template and cut it on the bandsaw first. I then  placed the template on the circle again and marked the center hole and drilled it with a forstner bit (I cut my inner hole at 7/8"). I then marked and drilled the 4 bolt holes with a 1/4" brad point drill bit.

If anyone knows or can figure out the hole spacing and size (if it's different from mine), I don't mind lasering out a template for you to use.

I reused the ones that were there. My guess is that to replace them you will have to drill your own holes for wire and pins.

I'll reuse the ones that I have but they are pretty nasty looking. I was going to see if I could find some shiny new ones to put in.
