  1. Just another point of view.

This looks like a Regal Limited so what is the real value of the car, if milage is true basically a turn key drive it to a car show with just maintenance, and wax. Yes it's green which is very period, in fact I am amazed how many of these survived in green. Yes no turbo but do a timing chain and drive it for another 70k miles.

Many Years ago I had the same attitude I didn't want to part with my money when the owner was making to much which I knew, and I was young and stupid, did I tell you stupid. We all learn hard lessons, I now look at the value of the car and the value to me. As I get older the turn key original values higher. Oh yes and by the way that car I passed on with my stupid young attitude was a very nice 1970 White Stage 1 GSX for $5,500 when most nice Gran Sports were $4,000 but this one had had the motor replaced and the owner had paid about $2,500! So I walked on it, and I never did that again. Don't get hung up on what the owner is making its what it is worth to you.

    Just my opinion.

  2. Did anyone happen to see that earlier this week one of the two 62 limo's sold on Bring A Trailer.

Actually for what it is and the rarity I thought a decent price. You do need the room though.

Not sure if it was good for me or bad for me I had not checked that site in a while. Lol

I wonder if it was a BCA member or did it go to the Professional vehicle group?

  3. not a 17 but might be of interest

This 1920 mdl 45. has become available for sale on Long Island. The owner passed away and his family is selling the vehicle. The Chapter was contacted and A couple of us are helping in finding it a new home.

The car does not run. It has paint issues. Andy who owns a 1916 mdl 45 from long Island and myself looked at this car it is pretty complete and would be a great car to get running and have for fun or a starting point for a project.

Call me for info and more pics and info  I can put you in touch with Andy for his experienced view of the car and/or the owners family.

    My phone # 516-606-4620

    They are asking $7500

Nice and thanks for sharing. Growing in Blue Point on the south shore thanks for the pictures.

You understand well that Long Island is not all fun and games with traffic and suburbia but parts of it do have charm and beauty and having such differences between North and South shores only about a half hour to an hour from each other make it a very interesting place to live.

  6. The Long Island chapter had an end of season run Sunday. We started in Wantagh, went east along the Ocean parkway, and ended up in Great River at Timber Point Golf Course restaurant for lunch. It's days like this that you understand why you put up with the traffic around NYC, parts of Long Island are beautiful.

A real enjoyable run, I was at the rear but the Gran Spot views helped make it better lol. A great way to close out the year.

I plan on getting a new drive this year, but the weather did not cooperate with my contractor.  He says next spring.  With inflation like it is, I just can't wait to see what the increase in concrete will be. 😬

The problem we had was the availability of the paver blocks luckily what we got is nice, looks good and we are happy with it

  8. On Sunday my wife and I attended one of the last car shows in the area at Fort Totten in Bayside Queens.

This has always been a nice show and this year it was even better with over a hundred cars and trucks. The weather although cool was absolutely beautiful. The Reatta drew quite a bit of attention. Some pics, real nice 49 Benz whose owner obliged when I asked him to put his signal out lol. A nice 57. VW and Russian bike sidecar and machine gun. When you bring a tow truck to a car show make sure it's towing a 29 Franklin, you have to love the truck guys. Some Buicks in the mix and a Packard. And my wife Grace loves talking about our cars when I am away from the cars. I am a lucky man.

  9. Very interesting

Besides wealth to buy the car most people probably didn't have that available time to do trips like this.

Also sounds like a very adventurous couple, definitely not like staying at the Hilton lol

This puts more perspective on what travel was like, and what these cars were capable of.

It would be interesting to see if there was some sort of association with Buick, maybe a dealership in the family  or something.

Thanks again for the very interesting info.

  10. This was more of midweek drives.

On Wednesday I took my 78 Century wagon for its final drive by me, it has become time to do a little herd thinning, and this car always seemed to never improve or have work done on it. So it was time to go, no tears it went to a good home, a local G-body fan and he is going to improve it. I was the second owner and bought it in 96. In the beginning it was our daily driver alot of memories and fun. It will be missed but it was time. Ah well.

So on Thursday I consoled myself by driving my 60 into work for an inspection loving every minute.

So life is good and less pressure is making it better. I am sure I am singing to the choir here, lol

  11. On Saturday I met Ken Creary LHV chapter Director and his wife Lauren at the Hagerty garage parking lot in Bedford Hills NY to do the New York/ CT self driving tour which is part of Hagerty's touring series that can be done in certain parts of the country.

We ended up driving for about 4 hours at a spirited pace. We stopped for lunch in Pawling NY which is the wall to wall tail light pic. I was following Ken driving his beautiful 65 GS in my 91 Reatta this gave both of us the chance to enjoy these two fine but very different Buicks the way they were meant to be driven. I know I had a blast in the Reatta and I don't think the smile could be erased from either of our faces at the end. What more could you ask for a Beautiful day with Great people on Fun roads with Wonderful cars!!!

Trip passed away in late 2020. I think they have settled the estate and his son, CT, seems willing to part with the Reattas. He let me in the storage trailer to check out the three he has in there. I told him the Polo Green 91 might be the most interesting one in there. I think he said it has 60,000 miles. One of the convertibles was dry as can be. The other had a bit of a moisture smell inside. They have all been sitting in there for a long time.

  13. Sunday i had the opportunity to attend an old car drags. this is one of the first on Long Island not at a sanctioned track. it was run by a group that is primarilly flathead fords.

but alot of fun for 3 hours. show cars were free, they only raced for max about 500 ft but the show gave me the glimpse of what it must have been like back in the 40's and 50's at the airports racing.

this wont be my last for sure. the only Buick there but the 57 was well received and it was great to have it out.

  14. I don't know if this quite qualifies but on Sunday we finally had the Long Island chapter show and running the show the hard working team and I got to hang out with about 70 Buicks and 10 other brands. My daughter brought my pace car and her boyfriend my 91 Reatta. I had to haul stuff in my GMC Terrain. And my son got to drive them both back home with his wife shuttling. Best of show was a 38 Century, Dealer choice 70 225.the rebadged Regal GS/Opel was interesting in that the young owner was very into the car and found out after buying it used from a dealeri, it had been on display at the Detroit auto show. Nice to see the future is still interested. Great day and show Here's some pics.

  15. IMPORTANT

CHANGES TO SEPTEMBER 5TH LONG ISLAND BUICK CLUB SHOW

We are still going to have our car show in Wantagh on Sept. 5

BUT because of the rise in COVID-19 DELTA variant infections, the board unanimously decided to change from a Peer Judging / Trophy show to a NO ENTRY FEE / NON JUDGED SHOW. We understand this is not our normal way of doing our show, but in the interest of the safety of our members and the participants of the show we feel this would limit our contact and be in the best interest of everyone participating

We will be following any COVID guidelines from the town, county, or state.

Unfortunately we will NOT be having a food vendor at the show, so please be prepared to bring your own food and refreshments.

If you decide not to attend at this time we hope to see you in 2022 at our May show

Please feel free to call me with any questions @ 516-606-4620

    Stay Safe

    And Buick on
