John cant wait to see the article, shame its not a 4 speed but I don't think that would be to hard to overlook on this car lol
These days you really have to do homework before choosing tires, I put a great set of Pirelli's on my wife's 2014 Lacrosse
and even though not a GS with the V6 power and the superb suspension's we have now days it is a ton of fun to drive.
Then i put a different set of Pirellis on my 18 GMC Terrain and they work great but are a little noisier than they were supposed to be.
I think the tire Mfg's are trying to put everything in a tire, and as I tell customers there is always a tradeoff.
You are right these are not our Fathers Buick's but in some ways they are far superior.

John not to take anything away from the Regal and your enjoyable drive

On Monday the 2nd I drove my 60 6 window for the last time. She is on her way to a new home and I know it will be treated better than I was able to. So as bittersweet as it was this is the right thing to do. I guess at 64 I am finally growing up and realizing what I can't do, naahhh lol
Man was it a tight fit. Good by old friend
Happy New Year to all

Hey Guys
I think your being a little rough on Long Island
i will agree with many things being said but at the same time we have some beautiful land here
at times you could swear you were upstate or in PA. and the beaches we have great ones.
we also have one of the biggest and best car cultures in the US
so understanding things are difficult in getting here, lets be a little more gracious to us "Long Islanders" lol
have a great New Year

Yes it is, good catch
That is a 57 Special mdl 41 my wife and I have owned since 1982 we bought it from the original owner with 6,100 miles it now has just about 13,000. Very original but the paint which is Sylvan Gray metallic is getting very thin. When we bought the car it looked like someone had painted the bumpers silver. Some people who don't use their car much also don't care for the exterior as they should. It did get the antifreeze and oil changed once a year. Original bare bones car no P/S no P/B had the radio removed at the dealer and it is supposed to be white on the bottom but he bought an all gray car so I think the dealer paintedone on the lot. All these low milage cars have a story

I was on vacation this week and on Tuesday and Wednesday I had to change the water pump, thermostat, and all the Hoses which included 2 throttle body preheater Hoses and 6 heater Hoses so 10 Hoses in total and the heater control valve on my 87 Firebird V6. A much bigger job than I thought lol. But the bonus was both days the Reatta was the errand and parts runner, not a bad way to do things.

The time has come to part ways with my B60. this is not a perfect car but it does have its positives and negatives.
1 have owned the car since 1977 and used it daily in the beginning, i bought it with a bad interior. i disassembled it in 1982 from the firewall forward.
painted the frame and rebuilt the front end with new parts. the right front fender has been replaced with a used painted one. the motor is a used motor and runs hot.
I have the original block. the brakes have been converted to a dual master system. the car is not garaged and i need to move it along before it gets worse. it needs complete exhaust.
I have other cars and do not have the time to give this one what it needs. if you message me i can supply you with detail pica and all the info on what is good and bad.
I will consider any reasonable offer but will not answer low ball ones.
the car is located in Long Island, New York
i am asking $8,500 NOW ASKING $6,500 as of 12/18
Thank You for your time

i had an 87 Lesabre coupe that had the 3.8. It turns out the cam gear had the plastic,
although mine had non of it left when i dropped the pan and found most of it in the pan. the car had trouble starting and finally wouldnt start, but when running ran ok, it turns out the computer was compensating for the loose timing chain, kinda scary actually.
once the motors went to crank oil pump it solved all oiling issues and durability went up.
i always fount the 3.8 front drives a little more aggressive in running ( i call it snottier lol) where the 3800 is more smooth and refined, i would take any of them in a heartbeat.
i had a 05 Lesabre with a series 2 3800 those easily will go over 200k if the rest of the car lasts

The 3.8 or 231 hit the scene in 75 as an odd fire version of the 350ci v8 with 2 cylinders chopped off
the even fire 3.8 came in 79
the 3.8 went through many changes til 88 which was a split year change to the 3800
the 3800 had 3 series with the last i think being an on center motor
so you have to be careful changing parts from a generation to a different generation
all the later 3.8 and 3800 motors are good motors just look for what you would normally look for when buying one
Good Luck

Tom to say the least yes it was a tough decision
I love the look and driving of the B60's as many of us do
But sometimes there just comes a time to move them on
Thanks again

Well after much soul searching i have decided to sell my 60 Buick
I have owned this car since 1977, it was my daily driver for a couple of years, then relegated to part time fun driver and show use
this is the car that has always been one that never got the attention it needed or deserved.
I have other cars that are much nicer and of course run better and at 63 am finding less enthusiasm to do a "restoration" and really dont have the time or money for such.
and as of August 17th my wife and i have our first Grand child (son)which i know will be happily taking up more of our time.
This Buick brought me into the hobby, and as such it deserves better then i can give it and is now stored outdoors under a cover, which it does not deserve
I am including just a few pictures to stir the interest, for those that might be serious please message me and i will email a bunch of detail pics and information about the condition of the car.
I am giving the forum about a week before i post it elsewhere, i respect the people who are serious on the forums, for all the rest
THIS IS NOT A PERFECT CAR, IT HAS PROBLEMS, I WILL BE HONEST ABOUT THEM. THE USED MOTOR IN IT RUNS HOT, THE INTERIOR IS POOR, THE BODY NEEDS WORK, AND MORE
I AM NOT GIVING THE CAR AWAY, BUICK ONLY MADE 8029 OF THIS TOP LINE MODEL, SO DONT LOW BALL ME.
I AM GIVING YOU AN ASKING PRICE OF $12,500, IF YOU DONT AGREE MAKE ME A REASONABLE OFFER AND I WILL CONSIDER IT.
Thank You for your time

Totally agree on the Ultra
never had one YET
also wouldn't mind the T-TYPE, again with the wheels
there was a 89 Park Ave that i was keeping an eye on that had the leather interior
and the handling pkg with the 15in wheels but unfortunately
the son got it and now is slowly being trashed
ah well

B Jake Moran
i have to respectfully agree and disagree with your above comment above
is it to much money to ask for this car, quick answer YES
but your buy it price is way to low
depending on condition these cars are fair between 4 to 6k with this mileage and condition
i owned an 88 in the early 2000s, and absolutely loved driving it, big feel inside but not huge outside
they changed things in 88 mid year they went to the balance shaft 3800 much smother but not quite as snotty as the earlier lesabres with the 3.8, and they put in the electronic trans a big improvement in reliability.
depending on the options changes the price as always, alot of these have cloth so the leather is a plus no digital dash or gages dash but has climate control and concert sound, interesting color, and its missing the raised flat bar on the luggage rack
this car has the 14in wheels as most do, i always felt these cars were under tired and should have all came with 15in
these cars will do 80-90 all day long and ride in Buick comfort
my opinion but to me these are a plus to a collector just not at the price
