Hi guys very excited as my 53 Buick special convertible is finally commencing its long journey to me tomorrow from New York to Southampton Uk then reshipped to me in Cyprus . Bought about 2/3 months from gateway in Chicago went to have a few small repairs , but on collection my friend noticed a ding noise turned out to be throw bearing on clutch. Decided to have complete clutch changed , but had to wait for parts. Finally ready 10days ago . transported to New Jersey sails tomorrow! Still going to take about 6weeks to reach me . Have built a car port to keep it out of the sun and heat 44 here last , cooler in September be just right for a cruise. will post pictures when it finally arrives. have a great week end in your buicks I'll be joining you soon. cheers pilgrim

Great read, for a newbie like me, laughed at the photo with garage extension , as I was just thinking as I read wow some of these guys must have a hanger or barn I've only recently bought a 53 Buick special convertible , been waiting years , major problem had no garage as downsized 15 years ago to a small place with parking space , no good for cherished car. But bought cheap place in north Cyprus , no garage but space so just completed large carport. Weather is very dry , and have arranged winter garaged storage so should be ok , I hope. Not comments about cost of spares , learning fast, asking on this forum seems a good way of not getting ripped off , and think the advice on here is an essential tool for looking after your old car. although my car will be in Cyprus actually live in southern England , so interested to chat to any local Uk members. New to this as just bought classic 53 Buick special , notice 54 has back up lights , useful addition , especially with my reversing! anyone have a good pair would be interested . Or if anyone can recommend modern lookalikes which look good for 50s period. cheers paul

Hi folks new to forum , live in Uk just purchased a 53 Buick special convertible and while looking on you tube seen some with wire wheels and white walls fitte , look great , just wondered if anyone knows if skylark and special had same size rims as seen set on eBay at good price. They need refurb so any idea of cost would be useful best regards pilgrim 65
