Cheers guys
appreciated

Trimacar, your probably right about paint noticed all my wheels had not been masked either .
There may have been a warning sound of loose nuts ,but side roads are so bad here car always makes noise as we go slowly in and out of pit holes and probably didn't distinguish from other sounds.
cheers

Mentioned in another post yesterday that I might sell Ruby and a Scary thing happened last night. Driving along the coast road doing 40/50 , horrible sound like I hit something in road , car swerving all over road , struggling to keep control , eventually pulled up in middle of road . Thought puncture , but no, rear nearside wheel had actually come off , resting in wheel arch at 45 degrees, thought shaft problem , ( damn , car going to be off road for weeks as I await parts from states.)
However a kind passer by stopped and called local garage , great guys came in 20 mins , jacked up car , all wheel nuts missing!! , 3 laying loose, walked 100 yards back up road found no 4 , put back on , sorted ! only damage scuff on tyre amazing. Both a bit shaken so went and had beer ?. Added 5th nut today and checked other 3 wheels ,nuts all tight . Can only think must have been vibration or not tightened at last service, or Ruby telling me off.?

Doug ,
as I stated recently you American / Canadian guys sure are committed to hobby the miles you drive to meets are amazing. Have read on here some members travelling lists , been surprised , but understand now why you go so prepared , old cars are temperamental any long journeys tend to bring problems to the fore.

We have sust it , scam as we thought ,250k ! Real price
i had the exactly same email as above , also direct not to messages and no response to my individual question, funny thing though it deleted itself as soon as I opened it , but found it again on another device.
i apologise to any I misled in my postings , although I would love a skylark for £60k , my wife wouldn't like me dipping into our pension fund to that extent for another car, others would have to go first. However I appreciate the concerns and advice from you guys. My posting about buying was a subtrafuge in case scammer was reading my posting . Happy to have my 'baby skylark ' Ruby. Though ! ?

Personally think the title of the thread is most probably correct ,and sent owner a message to find out. but I would love a skylark , but wouldn't buy without a prior inspection unless from a trusted member . I been offered 50k couple of times for Ruby , so another 15/20 k for a skylark would be great , but if it is genuine it will probably sail past my budget . Keep you posted ?

Some more great photos John , like the riverboat typical of a brits wish list of a states visit.?

Impressed by you guys willingness to drive 1000miles for a car meet, perhaps we're not as committed as you Americans , as that would equate to me going to north Scotland for a meet from home in Hampshire ( south Uk) or someone from there coming to Hampshire doesn't happen unless part of a round Britain rally. However I might do it if I knew there would be hundreds of buicks or pre 60s American to view . ?
Well done Pete be interested to see that super sometime when your ready.
cheers

Regarding early cars , been watching an American TV series called 'The Son' about the early days of Texas Indians and oil upto 1915 many cars of that era shown , but apart from model T or rolls my knowledge is very limited. Keep trying though.

It's got me interested now , someone make a judgement.

Back to thread topic , does anyone know if treatment of top down cover is original , i.e. Did the cover on 53 convertible have poppers along the top of the rear seat ? mine doesn't and I may adopt idea as the taut fitting is better than mine.

Dyna flash , that's some some great hobby history , interesting. I probably also became hooked early on as my dad always had 3/4 old cars from the 30s and 40 , rileys , Wolsey, Morris , standard and his favourite a Jowett javelin . I remember driving his Vauxhall velox around a field when I was about 12 . He also had a big temperamental ford v8 pilot which I liked, could fit all friends in. Myself I've always loved American cars and collected models early on. I've had a lot of common cars , but the ones I deem classic and wish I had kept , 1960 Vauxhall cresta , singer gazelle , 52 Austin A40 Somerset , triumph TR6, and V12 jaguar Xjs . Finally purchased my first American , last year and I love it. Learned much from this forum and my wish now is for a 40s buick convertible or a 59 Electra , got to get a move on I'm older 70 !
cheers,

You obviously were a early starter into classic cars , or was first purchase your daily driver then in 63 , I've always loved cars but didn't pass my test till 68 . First car 59 Vauxhall victor , not really classic ?
-
Dynaflash , very interesting. Could be same car depends when brother disposed of car , next owner or subsequent owners could have taken car to Illinois. When you saw car must have still been completely original in 1967 , the interior trim was done red / black on Ruby in 2006 , don't know if it was different before. Pity there's not one unique distinguishing item that would confirm same car.
Would love to know the actual history of the car , 64 years , if it could talk , sure be interesting. thinking of writing to Buick owners club to see if vin no is recorded and perhaps they could pass on my email address if there is a record . You probably have similar thoughts about your own cars particularly the 39s
thanks for your post , reawoken my quest. Enjoy your day.
cheers

My neighbour here in Cyprus , has her home in the Isle of Wight , an island just off south coast of Uk , she went home recently and noticed this car at the local car show, thought it was my type of car , correct! Love it! However wonder what it is, looks 20/30s American , but I wonder if it's a kit car
any ideas
cheers

Interesting , first one I've seen since I bounght Ruby , can't say I like the colour scheme , prefer Ruby's all red, red /black trim. Wonder if car has been subject to full restoration or original with part restoration as engine bay doesn't look pristine and stated queries regarding possible mechanical issues . Still nice ' baby skylark' for fraction of the money. Good luck.
