Hi Guys
dont know whether 12 months after purchase is when flaws start to appear , having a continuous string of problems this year ,
had thought all sorted last week , have a perfect week and today lowered top before we went cruising along the coast , thought I'd put up again for return as bit warm 32 degrees and bingo no response .
Not sure how they work but imagine solenoid engaging hydraulics.
any advice on fault finding appreciated.
cheers

Got to think outside the box, where do you get the most out of a National Meet? Not in a restaurant? or a bar, on the showfield! Let's ,meet at the oldest Buick there and go from there! "just a thought" RV
What if there's 2 of the same year ?

First week end had Ruby back on the road and went on a classic car rally , as it was our second time took it seriously and teamed with my friends as co drivers , given 1 slot ( problem no one to follow! ) so lost way and had to retrace on first trial, arrived late at check in and not knowing rules , when waved on thought we had to go , so drove on, but they actually wanted me to go to front of queue. Consequently arrived at finish early! Never mind great fun, and Ruby was faultless . About 30 cars turned up out of 50 , holiday here so lost a few, due to that and apparently some owners wouldn't risk their cars on mountain roads. Shook Ruby quite a bit so I may abstain from future rough courses . However came through ok and few photos of day below .
Team Buick ?

Any member with a special which has spotlight on drivers side , can you tell me which position on dash switch is supposed to be the on position,
checked bulb, it's ok , so wiring problem or switch contact, knowing the on position would be good.
thanks in advance.
cheers

Afternoon guys
when I bought my 53 special , I was informed all gauges work , so when I first drove her out of docks in Cyprus , checked all gauges, amps ok, oil pressure ok, fuel tank full ! , thought ( must say thank you to those nice guys at gateway)
drove car next day to friends no problem , following day had to take to register , died on me on motorway!
thought electrical problem as tank still reading full. Everything else seemed ok so asked friend to bring petrol bingo!! Started first turn.
still reads full year on , I always top up every 200 miles so no shocks since.
would love it to work correctly , as needle moves something is happening any idea folks?
cheers

Matt
great colour combo
Being English , got to like English green, is that the same as British racing green , very popular on 50s British sports cars.
Elpad
any idea of asking price for 57 convertible
thanks guys

Amusing read , 26 posts , a lot of views , some logical , some not.
no resolution ,
favourite quote 'a turd by any other name is still a turd!'
my opinion , term NOS , been used for to long , to many users , it's a fait accompli, There is about as much chance of changing the term 'hamburger' as it is usually a beef burger ?

Was keeping my slip up quiet , but as I saw this post , thought I'd come clean.
Cyprus where I live for much of the year , we have tankered water , I have a 10 tonne in ground tank adjacent house.
when I bought my 53 Buick convertible I had a carport built to keep it dry and out of sun . The water tank had a cast iron cover , but as I had a back operation 18 months ago and cannot lift anything to heavy., I change cover to aluminium.
the tank was central in the finished carport and I had used most weeks with no problem as wheelbase on Buick straddled lid easily.
I had always let passengers out before entering carport
however last Saturday night on returning from a meal out with wife , I forgot about tank lid and drove into carport off centre so my wife would have space to exit .Plonker!
youve already guessed it, front wheel demolished my lightweight cover and dropped into tank , chassis stopped car , but was unable to reverse out . car was badly tilting, but managed to get jack onto front bumper , raised car and put timber under wheel , but couldn't lower jack , so needed neighbours professional jack under chassis to take weight off bumper jack , which thankfully worked .
lowered car and reversed out !
Feel a wally and think it warrants membership of the club!
I have had to reinstate cast iron cover ?
But thankfully no damage apart from scuffs on underside.
cheers
