  1. Dang ... that's cool!  Congratulations on your car having a role in the movie ... & a nice role it had, too!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  Anyone shop at local hometown establishments today, 11/26/2016, Small Business Saturday?

Thursday-Friday (11/17-18/2016) I drove to Okemos MI & had a great, yet somewhat weird, very mini road trip, the 1st of hopefully many full road trips, in my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis.  I wrote about those 2 days, & included some details, such as gas mileages, & 2 photos in this entry:
    http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2016/11/22/tuesday-trip-82/

Now, I really want to road trip more again; cool & somewhat bittersweet to have those impulses back full force.

This 1974 Ford brochure cover makes me miss the days when individual models had their own emblems &/or nameplate style-design!  Do you have a favorite unique emblem from vehicles of yesterday?

Finned Cadillac, a great cruising & listening to music vehicle!  What do you think is the best vehicle for cruising & listening to music?

Perhaps it will be a little tougher than I thought to let go of the 1979 Caprice Classic, tho selling it is probably for the best; drove it for ~1.5 hours Friday & finished removing my stuff from it.

Comparing my CC & 03 MGM, the Mercury is physically larger, yet the Caprice drives-handles like a much bigger car.

Despite the silver color & the leather seats, I really do like my 03 MGM.  BONUS: no MGM generation makes you wonder what Mercury was thinking; all years stay true to the heritage of the nameplate.

After owning the Mercury for ~1 month now, I recognize an importance in branching out & owning at least 1 from each of the Big 3 at some point in life, for experience & knowledge.  Maybe someday I will get a late 1970s Chrysler Cordoba!?

  4. NICE, Marty!  While I love the gold color of the Cadillac, I sure prefer the white MGM. ;)

But, I have to ask ... your Dad bought a 1992 MGM to replace a 1972 Cadillac?  Wow ... that's awesome he kept that Cadillac for so long!  Too bad you don't still have it.

  5. Congrats on your new Eldorado, John ... LOVE  that color.

As for the 1985 Buick Riviera ... a cousin in PA had a gray version ... & I must say, I LOVE that gold FAR better.  My goodness that is GORGEOUS.  Course, I prefer browns-tans-golds ... earth tones.  I'm not much into the FWD Rivs, but that gold one ... if I had the $, I might consider it.

WELCOME!  Neat car ... & awesome plan.  I'd love to be on the road 24/7/365.  Hope it all works out, you get the car ready for the trip & you have a blast.  Should be a very cool experience & rather educational.

Here's a website dedicated to Cadillac station wagons.  It seems the Indy 500 connection is somewhat shrouded in mystery, so I'd be willing to bet that there's no documentation.  This car is very similar to one that sold at auction in 2004, see details in write up....   http://cadillacstationwagon.com/

Yep!  That Cadillac station wagon forum is run by a guy who did a replica of the 1972 MC "Coke Machine" NASCAR.

Had a great, but somewhat weird, very mini road trip in my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis (upwards of 25mpg) to Michigan this past Thursday & Friday (11/17-18/2016).  Drove straight to Okemos MI via I-390, I-290, I-294, I-94, I-69 & I-96 Thursday AM, then drove a LONG way back via I-69, I-74, I-57, US 24 & IL RT 47 Friday.  I will need to go back to Okemos in ~1 month, so maybe I could plan to meet some of you along the way? BTW, if you are interested in more details about my recent 2-day journey (including the 03MGM actual gas mileages), I will write it up & include a couple pics in the TUESDAY TRIP entry on my website this week (to publicize Tuesday, 11/22/2016, 8a US central).

Last week, I asked what made you feel good recently; this time, what has made you laugh recently?

Last week I celebrated my 10th year of open heart surgery!!  Welcome to the zipper club!  Yes,  this was a great week for a couple of things.......!

Awesome ... congratulations!  & thank you; I'm a charter member of the zipper club since birth.  I have congenital heart defects which have required 4 surgeries (November 1977, March 1987, January 2003 & November 2011) & countless other procedures.

So glad to see all of the "feel good" moments.  I started to like all of them, particularly the ones I didn't reply to directly, but for some reason, they aren't "sticking" ... so, I will try again next time I visit. :)

I have an '01 Crown Vic Police Interceptor that I've had for about 6 years. It's coming up on 200K miles and it's been fairly trouble free in my ownership. I've put nearly 40K miles. It's not an ex-patrol car. It came from the Washington State Police Academy and was probably just a staff car. It probably wasn't abused to badly. It's been a great car for only $2500!

I almost bought an Interceptor, but I like the look of the Grand Marquis a bit better.  From the pic you posted, I'd bet you're right that it wasn't 1 of the abused cars.  Looks great!
