OK I'll stop worrying when I take one of my cars out and about in this modern era of paved roads, cell phones and flatbed tow trucks.

Chuckled a bit at this.  It is amazing how much more worrisome travel was "back in the day".  Yet, I think I still might worry these days ... if only because of those "other drivers".... ;)

Anyone into HO (or other) scale trains?  I certainly was when I was a youngster, & still am, actually.  For many years, I had this train table set up, but had to take it down a few years ago for some basement renovations.  Maybe someday I will get it back up & running!  Meantime, what catches your spying-eye radar?

Since my boss 1st agreed to revisit the possibility of me working remotely, starting January 2017, he has since said my next work computer will be a laptop & suggested ways to handle work flow with me on the road.  So, I am hoping a major, working road trip actually happens in 2017.  That in mind, I started a ROUGH, general overview of a potential route.  Given so many variables (i.e. people to see, who I can stay with for a day or 2, needing to return to IL every so often, weather, timing, etc.), I will figure out specifics (dates, times, actual path, etc.) later.  The outline below includes places I have stops for visits &/or 1-2 days to stay; some areas can be switched around, too (for instance, could stop in Cincinnati en route to FL).  Let me know if you would like to meet up in 2017!

Same around here ... those were EVERYWHERE back in the day.  I still see the later generations around from time to time, but not as much as I'd like.

    Neat picture!

I believe this photograph is of the Marina City Parking Garage on State Street along the north bank of the Chicago River in Chicago, IL.

Marina City, completed in 1964,  is a well-known building in Chicago.   It includes twin corncob-like concrete structures.

1st place I thought of, too, when I saw the neat image!

I quipped this (about life, cars & music) 4 years ago (2012), & for me, anyway, it still holds true today, perhaps more so:

Nice Pontiac Firebird pictured, too, btw!

This is from back when you had lots of choices within 1 nameplate!  I would take 1 of each, which Ford LTD(s) would you buy?

Remember when gas-service stations all had their own trucks?  Looks like this pickup was 1 of them!

I have a 1989 Caprice Classic with an Alpine AM/FM CD/ MP 3 player installed in the dash. (the kit makes it look as original) I put my entire music collection on CD's using the MP3 format and can get 280 songs on each CD. It's still going strong after 10 years! Trouble is I don't see any mp 3 players for sale anymore! I don't want Pandora or anything like it. No streaming music either. I imagine Alpine still has them on the internet if mine gives out before I do! Boy can that Alpine blast! It's cruising material alright! Ever hear Bachman Turner Overdrive's "Let It Ride" at 15 watts per channel in a car?

Seeing your '89 CC Brougham LS makes me miss my former 89 CC B.  Dang yours looks quite fine, cutlas!  I never have gotten into MP3s & the like ... at least, not yet.  I'm sure that'll happen sometime down the road once I get my savings built up again.....  As for your query ... can't say I have, tho I kinda want to now! ;)

I have an 80 Plymouth Volare that I drive in the summer. Really enjoy the ride and room and Comfort.( By the way I was in your neck of the woods yesterday. Rode the Trolly Museum's North Pole Express with the grand- kids and then had dinner at Nick's Pizza)

Ahhhhh, LOVE Nick's Pizza!  Goodness, you were so close yet so far away.  Nick's is roughly 10 minutes from where I sleep, & maybe 5 minutes from where I work!  Hopefully we can meet up sometime, if you like.  I'd love to see your 1980 Plymouth Volare! :)

BTW ... received my license plates for my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis!  I did not get my 1st choice (PANTHR 3), but I got my 2nd choice, DLY DRV 3.  At least now the plates make it official, right?

ALSO somewhat official: my boss has agreed to revisit the possibility of me working remotely, starting January 2017, which means I can ROAD TRIP about as much as I want & really live those impulses to drive & see people & places.  I am developing potential plans (including time to drive, work, visit, maintain my website & other personal projects-goals) & hope to have a decision from him later this month!  How cool would that be if it works even somewhat close to what I envision?

    Thanks, Cort.

For the patient buyer, there are MANY interesting

old cars for sale.  If one is priced too high, there will

always be another.  Sometimes cars catch my eye

even when I wasn't specifically looking for that model.

Even though I'd like to, I can't own them all!

Hope this gold 1985 Riv finds an appreciative home.

    I hope so, too!

& ... oh my gosh ... I'm living that "Even though I'd like to I can't own them all!" ... I would trade THAT desire if I could just DRIVE them ... if that makes sense. ;)

    You are welcome!
