Victoria Lynn, I have really enjoyed following your posts on here and hope you continue.

    ^^^ THIS!

Wish I had the money for that 1979 Lincoln ... such a gorgeous car.

I sure appreciate seeing the photos & seeing your Dad.  In a way, this reminded me of an "epic thread" of a friend of mine, who restored her Dad's car for him ... then gave it to him a surprise ... a little bit before his death.  I finally got to meet her in person & see the car during my last road trip, 2011's "Coast-to-Coast" journey.  I posted a little bit about it here, if you're interested:
    http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2016/06/14/tuesday-trip-65/

I feel lost without my road trips because I absolutely love meeting people ... I feel so much more "at home" when I'm "on the road".....

I suppose it's a good idea to have car shows at funeral homes; can't say I've ever seen a show at such a place, tho.  Certainly they don't have scheduled shows if an actual funeral-visitation is happening....?

Funny. That was exactly 1/2 my lifetime ago. Well , if you know old "C" Carl , you know he just checked for Cadillacs. Mid '70s , a couple , one 472 powered RWD , one 500 cu in FWD. Perhaps a brace of almost new 368 powered FWD Eldos parked side by side. If you had known the then relatively young ol' "Cadillac" back then , you would not have had to look any farther than that Bier Garten to find him. Yeah , funny all right. Funny. "Funny" , as the song goes , "Funny how time just slips right on away". How are you doing , Cort ? Don't put off doing what you want to do too long. Thanks for posting.  - Carl

Man , how could I have missed that '75 or '76 Fleetwood ! Drop a line down from the left side of the aforementioned B. Garten sign. You'll see the "Kitty" at the edge of the photo. ( had a couple of those too ). Cort , with your quotations from a great variety of songs : "Cadillac Cowboys , you see them everywhere that you go." | Steve Miller | 'Cadillac Cowboys' ............. And believe me , that is no exaggeration. Back then ? I'm here to tell you. Everywhere. I've had Cads since I was too young to drive 'em. When that pic was taken I had a beautiful '71 droptop. Still have it. But beauty being in the eye of the beholder , it is now significantly more , or significantly less beautiful than it was almost 4 decades ago. After being T-boned shortly after the above pic was taken , the insurance company paid me off in full , and let me keep the car. Took an air chisel to the fenders and wheel wells, put a trick suspension under it in order to accommodate 33" BFG All Terrain T/As , and stood it tall. .050 over turned the 500 into a 514 , now decompressed to 7 : 1 with  head and cam mods to run hard and fast on the old 70 something octane Mexican gasoline of the era. Living on the trunk lid are two big spares strapped and chained around a red Jerry can. I like to say it looks like a piece of military hardware from the losing side of World War 4 ! It has been almost everywhere in Mexico and Baja. Anyway , Cadillac Cowboys in abundance as was the scene back then , you can be sure there are more in the parking lot here. I see some potential candidates, but low res frustrates my Cadilllac recognition software.

Cort , I hope your health is stable with everything you have had to endure at your young age. I just got out of the hospital after yet another heart-propelled trip to the E.R. Good news so far , and I am feeling so much better that I almost feel 70 again ! Just a Med-Mod so far , with follow ups hopefully to give me take-off clearance to go pick up the '27 to begin its return trip from 'Vegas. After a few months of decline and doubt , I finally think I just might be able to pull it off ! Lets leave it at that for now. Almost bed time , and I have things to do yet.  - Carl

Hey Carl .. great eye for the Cadillacs! :)

Glad you are feeling better, but sorry about the trip to the ER ... those are never fun. :(  My health (thank you for asking!) is just fine for now.  I'm hoping to see some kidney & other specialists in the next few months.  A bit "scared" about the Stage 3 Kidney Disease, but knew it was coming since it is partly due to my congenital heart issues.  Such is life.... ;)

BTW ... lots more cars to ID in the photo!

But, I'm having a difficult time understanding the NON-REFUNDABLE portion of the $50 APPLICATION fee!  Non-refundable if you are denied entrance?  Wow!  Certainly, it doesn't cost THAT much to create, process, etc., those applications, does it?

     V.L.2 and SKfan,

A database of all cars 25 years old and older would be nice. It would be a great service, and a win-win for everybody, county clerks and police, too.

I've often thought that it would be a start if the cars in museum collections were inventoried in a central record file. In the zoo world, there is an international roster of all the species in facilities everywhere...from marsupial cats to red pandas to Sika deer. That way, two zoos can coordinate with each other for acquisitions, bloodlines, conservation, etc. The way it is now, you have to contact each car museum one-at-a-time to see if they have a Citroen, a Cameron, or a Chevrolet.

YES, exactly!!!!!  I think it could be done ... just ... oh my the cost & time involved.  But, my goodness mercy me ... the dream!

I'd think some people would pay a few bucks to track down the "one that got away". I've always wondered where my father's '58 Corvette wound up. I'd pay a few bucks to find out. I loved that car! I was lucky to drive it in a few parades and to a car show or two in High School. I still have the VIN, and often wished there was a way to track it down. I'm sure all you car guys have at least one car like that in your history? Maybe your first car, your parents car, or a car that holds a special memory.

My dad sold that vette to someone in California in 1983. He said he had to because he was offered an obscene amount of money for it. It wasn't for sale. I secretly think it was the car owned by Jay Leno in That 70's Show. Some of dad's friends said my father met Jay at least twice at car shows...

    Yep, I would.

Back in the early 1990s, I found out my Dad had considered buying "my" car (my parents' former '76 MC) for me.  When I told him I wanted a '79 (middle year of the generations, 1970-1988), he decided not to search.  Well, at that time, with a VIN you could pay for a "title search" through the IL DMV-Sec of State [not sure if that's still possible or not, I haven't tried recently'.  So, I did.  Got some good results back, at least in terms of a former owner who wrote me back with details of when he had the car after my parents (who were the original owners).  Tragically, the junking certificate was dated just shortly before I started the search....  I'd like to believe I wouldn't have wanted to see it in that condition anyway.................  *sighs*
