  1. What do you make of this? Car was built mid august of 25. Looks like it may be the original carb. H=July?
  2. This is what I got. The ones with arrow are known (carb to block, dashpot?) but not sure on the others.
  3. That makes sense. So then there should be enough gas left in the tank to start it next time without and issue? Of course depending on how long it sits.... correct?
  4. I got a gasket set from Myers but puzzled by some of them. I can identify two but don't know the others. Any help would be greatlying appreciated. Trying to post photo but phone won't let me. I'll try tonight from home.
  5. I think I posted this before but age is getting to me. Having little experience with these tanks, I hooked up a clear line to see the action of the fuel being drawn into the unit. My question is: While cranking, I see the fuel going up the tube into the tank but once I stop cranking, the gas recedes back into the gas can. Is that normal? Mind you, one of the first things I did was to take it apart and inspect the inards. The float has no holes, the linings seem fine and the rest of the do-hickey's (flap, levers, etc..) are good too. So again, is that normal behavior?
  6. While i appreciate your last post, it didnt help in the way I had hoped. I do not want to have one made for an insane amount of money. I would rather make one myself as you suggested. I re-posted to put it upfront once again in the hopes that someone has or knows someone with a seat. This is just one more item that makes me want to rat rod it even more.
  7. Anyone out there know where I can find one? Is there a close fit from another model maybe?
  8. It's been 100 yrs since I had to think about repairing one. I don't remember the cost associated with it. Can I get some imput? How much should an average recoring be?
  9. Now to plumb the fuel properly. Myers doesn't have fuel lines so I guess I'll go to my local hardware store. Anyone know the the size of the lines? Looks like I can use a refrigerator line so I can bend accordingly. I'm looking to clean out the tank so I can finalized this this one to move on to the next.
  10. So I decided to give the float a second look. Apparently there is a leak and it has some gas in it. This I don't understand since some time ago, I checked this out by submerging it on a bowl of water and it didn't bubble so I assumed it was OK For some reason that is not the case anymore. Not being that familiar with this unit, is is safe to say that if it's full of gas, it will think the chamber is empty and will keep gas flowing into it? Since a repair is necessary, how do you suggest repair? Do I braze it? Would that add too much weight? Is there another acceptable method? Maybe silicone or the like?
  11. At least I'm in good company. Tearing apart the carb tonight.
  12. Thanks Ray The real problem is a loose nut behind the wheel!
  13. EUREKA!! Finally got the old girl started! Apparently I had the timing WAY off. I will admit I had to use starting fluid but she fire up once the gas got drawn up the tube from the gas can even with priming the vacuum tank. Unfortunately, it will not stay started for to long. A few times once it shut off, gas was pouring out of the intake tube.
  14. Let's get this on back on track.... It is only about carbs! Maybe it's me but I can seem to understand the info in the book of info regarding the carb adjustment. I hear that the DB store has a book that would help but is there someplace online (or anyone here that can help)? I think the store is upstate NY correct? If so, maybe I'll take a ride there.
  15. Awesome! I was expecting the experts to say it needs to be torn down! As I said in the beginning of this post, I'm refraining from asking questions related to all the issues with the car, rather keep topics separate to avoid confusion. I'm going to attempt to get my carburetor post back on track because I believe I to be my final hump to get over in my attempt to start this beast now that I have spark. See you on the other one and thank you all.
  16. I wanted to start a new post because in the past, my posts seem to run in all directions because of all the issues with something that hasn't started in decades. In hopes to stay on topic so I can stay clear on my course. OK... I finally made an adapter for my tester. Since I have new cars and I have no other need for the existing adaptors, I sacrificed one and JB Weld it to a donor plug. . So, I removed all the plugs, and proceeded to go thru the cylinders. For #1, reading is 40psi,#2 is 50psi, #3 is 40psi & #4 is 50psi. So to see if it is the rings, I squirted a little oil in cylinders 1 & 3. In re-testing, #1 now reads #50psi, #3 is still at 40psi. I did notice that it wasn't cranking as fast as before. Would this affect the results? With this motor, could it be valve related?
  17. My luck it will ricochet off the ceiling and hit me in the head and knock me out! They have an adapter that fits? I thought that they don't and that's why people are making one.
  18. Thanks for the loaner offer but I'm so busy that I'm afraid I won't get it back to you in a reasonable time frame. Lately, I can't seem to find time for much. If I'm lucky, I get an hour at a time for the car. I spend more time on here 'talking' than actually fixing.
  19. I appreciate the info. Unfortunately I also don't have an adapter to my compression tester.
