  1. Has anybody else replaced their window felt/sweepers and run into this? I ordered new sweepers from Andy Bernbaum but I don't think they fit. I called and asked if they've had feedback from anybody else about this product but I was told they did not. Perhaps I ordered the wrong one for the 46-48 cars or maybe I'm installing it wrong? The issue that I have is that they are too tall. For felt/sweepers that go on the "inside" moulding pieces (see the blue part it the attached pictures), they would physically fit on it but then the window channel (metal piece holding the glass) would hit the bottom of the felt/sweeper prevent the window from being raised all the way. If I install this piece on the inside of the outer stainless steel trim, there is a curved "lip" on the bottom of the trim that prevents the felt/sweeper from being installed flush against the trim; besides, the piece would still be too tall for the window channel for the glass to be raised up all the way. It looks to me like the original felt/sweepers were about 3/8 inch tall. I've been able to use shears to cut off the "excess" rubber and metal below the felt and grind it so it clears the trim lip and the channel but I think that's a really sloppy install and I'd like to do it better. Has anybody experienced this or used a different product/supplier? Thanks in advance.
  2. Gabriel, If I remember correctly, the fluid level should be up to the fill hole on the passenger side of the Fluid Drive under the floorboards. There is no cooling equipment for it. I've never seen an original description of the type of fluid to be used, only MoPar Fluid Drive Fluid which was available when the cars were new. There is a ton of info on the forums about what fluid to use. I'd tell you what I used a long time ago when I replaced the fluid but I don't have my binder with me at the moment. Good luck. Christian

  4. Does anybody know what the difference between the two are (clear and purple-ish)? I'm just really curious. Was there a batch made differently or something? I see mostly clear ones in pictures.
  5. I recently got a box of random Chrysler parts but I don't need them all. The pictures below are a few parts that need a better a home. Make a decent offer on anything and I'm sure it will be good enough. The picture quality didn't come out great. Here is the info I know: Rear seat light for 1946-1948 Chrysler convertibles and 7-passenger cars, 901 854 Parts book is the latest edition; its in rough shape but the info and pictures are all there and clear. Head light switch knob, application unknown Brake Light switch, application unknown Rear Door Lock Knob for 1957-1959 models; 1755 844 Regulator, Chrysler number 853 765, Auto-Lite VRP-4003A, from the various books, I think it fits the applications below, not tested but it looks like its in great condition: - 1937-1939 Plymouth (Chrysler Parts book from 1955) - 1938-1939 Dodge Cars - 1938-1940 Dodge Truck - 1938-1940 Fargo - 1938-1939 Plymouth (Autolite Parts book from 1951) - replaces VRD-4002A/B Condenser, Standard Motor Prod Inc, AL-101X, not tested Brake light switch, not tested, looks like it fits 1958-1961 models; has the DCPD stamp on it. The other parts I'm not sure about. -Christian

  8. I have an NOS 870 681 thermostat but it doesn't fit my car. It says Dodge on the box but the Streamliner says the part number is for 1940 Dodge, Chrysler, Desoto, and Plymouths. The stamped temp rating is 161F. Yours if you'd like to pay shipping. Send me a message. Christian
  9. The parts books says there was a "french walnut grain" and a "walnut burl grain" for the dash for the various model codes. The book also lists a "straight double grain walnut" that was only available on the C40. I've never seen one in person but I've seen original garnish moulding around the windows in one of those options. The video looks pretty close to what I saw so I would believe it could be original to this car or at least taken from a different car. I'm almost certain the wood grains wouldn't have been tied to the model (i.e. walnut burl grain is available for C38s, C39s, and C40s) However, you got me thinking about what they might be a part of...by that I mean I don't know if they were part of the paint code or trim code perhaps. Maybe there were just another option somewhere. I just don't see it listed as part of the trim code, paint code, or any other option. It looks like at least one of the wood grains would have been paired with the "neutral mottled" plastic (white-ish pieces like the glove box in the video). I saw the original window mouldings in a group close to several mottled plastic in a junk yard. My guess is that they were spares from somebody's project and not a coincidence. Also, one of the pictures below is from the data book which shows the neutral and wood grain combo. The picture from one of the Crown Imperial Sedan brochure looks to show the plastic matching the other mouldings; specifically the glove box door. Christian
  10. I tried SMS...they have some options that are close but its tough for them to match without a sample in hand. They do not seem to have have the actual original samples unfortunately.
  11. Does anybody happen to have a good sample of the original "gray" broadcloth from the two-tone blue/gray trim (Trim code 19)? I'm looking for a small piece that might show good color so I can have it matched. It would have been the broadcloth on the doors and lower b-pillars. A small piece from the door trim that would have been under the garnish moulding of the window would probably still be in great shape if possible; maybe the back side of of the cloth that would have been facing the door trim panel would likely still look good too. I'm happy to buy or borrow, etc. Thanks!

  13. I got my hands on an immaculate set of NOS window channels for my '48 Windsor Sedan. I'm talking about the metal piece with rollers that the door window glass sits in and the regulator moves the channel up and down. They're so nice that I feel bad using them. That got me thinking, is anybody reproducing them? My search didn't turn up anything at the usual places (which is why I was forced to find a pricey NOS set). I've seen some reproduction portions of the channel with out the roller brackets...are folks mixing and matching and welding them together or something? I can't be the first person to need to window channels. Christian

  15. I have a parts car that had Maroon interior but the most of the interior is pretty terrible. I'm away from the car until the summer and I don't remember what the back of the seats looked like. If you're still looking in the summer, let me know and I'll check. I'm hunting for replacement blue and gray broadcloth for my car. I've got a few samples of some materials that come close to the original feel and at least one place that says they can do custom colors if that is what you're looking for. Christian
  16. I'm finally gathering parts to re-chrome and I thought I had two matching taillight housings. I didn't notice that my "good" left housing was slightly different than the right side. I've never noticed this before; the area near the reflector is slightly different despite the same casted part number. I'm looking for the a good/decent left housing to re-chrome. If I have to get a pair I will but would prefer to just get the left if possible. Pictures are attached to show the differences. I'm looking for a match to the one with that still has the reflector. Thanks!

As a result, there are two rear facing screws visible. In one of the photos you can see the casted number "902158." The picture shown from the sheet metal book shows that there are two pieces for the 1941 cars. The next pictures are from the March 1949 parts book showing the exploded view and the part numbers: 1161554 is supposed to the the part number. However, in the next set of pictures of the part in my hand, it shows a one-piece that has "902158" casted. My guess is that when the new parts were made, the old castings numbers were kept but I'm just guessing. Is there any part out there with the 1161554 number on it?
  18. Has anybody run into confusion on the part numbers stamped for the tail light housings and lower retainer for the 1946-1948 Chryslers? I bought a tail light housing for my 1948 Windsor Sedan. It is "one piece" with a lower retainer and screw (below the lens). I've seen pictures of the 1941 tail lights which looks incredibly similar but has "two piece" design with an extra retainer on the top of the lens with a screw (two retainers, two screws total). The one piece I'm holding in my hands (for the left side) has "902158" stamped in it; and the retainer has 902589 stamped in it. The parts book says its supposed to be 1161554 and 934589 respectively. I've seen pictures online of the 1941 "two piece" design with the same part numbers as the "one-piece" I'm holding. I don't have a '41 parts book but the numbers seem like they are probably for a pre-1946 model. Was there an issue with the '46-'48 parts being made with the wrong numbers? Has anybody else run into this question? Christian

  21. I would also like to see as many pictures as possible. Personally, if I were buying the car, I would prefer to take care of the brakes and fuel pump myself just because they're relatively easy and I like doing that type of work myself. The hood looks misaligned. If there isn't anything bent and just an alignment is needed, that's also relatively easy and might help with presentation for the vehicle. Same with the loose wires. However, it looks like the centerpiece was bent, maybe for somebody that pulled out the radio? Maybe its just the picture.
