...The challenge now is finding a big engine Suburban, I believe last year for one was 2006......I'm very happy to have the 2001 low mileage one I now own....

There were 2 Suburbans this past weekend in the Raleigh Classic Auction - one that was immaculate, 38k on the odometer, 350.... sold for $28,000

  2. Being able to get my sister to come visit us during Thanksgiving.... It will be my mom's 65th birthday (It's a surprise - SHHHHH) and the first time my sister will be travelling to spend time here over Thanksgiving - she works for UPS on Long Island, need I say more?!

My sister's fiance had a kidney transplant in January and has been cleared to receive a pancreas and hopefully NOT BE Type-1 Diabetic anymore.

I managed to set up most of my Christmas display - I put up about 30,000 lights in my front yard :)  Next weekend I'll finish

The Carolina Hurricanes beat the Washington Capitals 5-1 last night :)

I wake up every single morning and smile :)

On a lighter side (perhaps), back to my Post #24: "I was looking at the video in 60FlatTop's Post #13 and thought I saw a familiar face/profile.  Is that Jay Leno looking into the passenger side front seat area at 0.16 - 0.28 sec. of the video?"   Was Jay Leno at this event?  Does anyone know?

    I just gotta know,

    Grog

Nope - this man has a beard and is laying his hands all over the car.  I don't think Jay would do that to someone else's car, especially after what it has been through.

So glad no one was hurt, but it's sad to see what happened.  I'm really hoping no one messed with the car.  I've never had anyone touch my trucks without me being there and my permission (as far as I know) but things can happen.

  4. We're watching an episode of "Chasing Classic Cars" from 12/12 and Wayne Carinni(sp) has made multiple references to going to Hershey, it's been a while since I've gone to Hershey, I've seen this car at Hershey.  Makes me wonder how many car people - other then us AACA people - understand what he's referencing? On this episode, he's somewhere on Long Island.  Wish I knew where he was as neither my husband nor I have any idea of who's property he's on,but they have multiple garages and TONS of information and many cars have AACA stickers on the window :)

  5. So this year, AACA started a new award program for HPOF and DPC cars.  Once you participate in a National meet, you are given a blue card when you receive your chip.  When you accumulate 5 cards, you send them in to headquarters for your participation award.  Hershey was my 5th National event for 2016!  So I sent in my cards and today I received this!

I was pretty excited to receive it. :) Thanks so much!

  6. I know I've read this before and although it would be nice to be parked with other similar vehicles, all cars are parked with their class.  So we couldn't park HPOF with other vehicles that have been restored.  It would be too difficult for the Judges to evaluate the HPOF vehicles if they are all over the show field - especially at Hershey where there are over 1,200 vehicles!

It would be most excellent to have all HPOF vehicles parked in their decade together, but again, at Hershey where there are over 200 HPOF, it would be very hard to designate parking for every vehicle. One year I was parked next to a 20's-30's Rolls Royce, the next an 80's Chevette.  I think it's very neat the variety of vehicles that I'm classed with considering there are over 100 years worth of cars and trucks and motorcycles that I could be parked near.
