The depression hit especially hard city governments. Many of the small town police departments and sheriffs offices required it's employees to supply their own guns. Often times using only 22 cal which was what they had. In fact even the better police departmemnts used low quality ammo and calibers that the steel body cars of the day provide bullet proof protection.I wouldn't be surprised with the use of coups because they were the lowest priced cars and after all police patrols only needed room for one or two cops anyway. The Dillinger gang took great advantage of all these factors in their getaways...Usually leaving the scene of a robbery just driving the speed limit through town! Funny....Hollywood has to blow everything out of proportion.
Great chart! Thanks a million!!! You have filled in all the info I needed I have a ford 1933 model B and was surprose to see that it almost compares with the ford v8 1933 in HP. 50hp vs 65 hp.. Supposedly if I add a downdraft stromberg carb I can get my HP up to nearly 60hp.
Is there any advantage in lightly coating both sides of a cork oil pan gasket prior to installation? Can this be done a day or two before installation on the car?
Thank you for your insight. You saved me from a real mess. O will stick with MMO and clean slowly with frequent oil changes... I am in not hurry anyway. Thanks for your help
Rusty,, your comments are always right on. Thanks you for saving me from catastrophy... " i think I spelled it wrong? I will try to clean this engine slowly with the old faithful MMO.... and very frequent oil changes.
Great info.... You are right ! MMO has been used since 1920's! I needed your comment... I got side tracked into all the new junk that is really not made for a 1933 motor! Thanks a million!
What is the reccommended amount of MMO? I plan on changing the oil a dozen times fast to get any crude out. I am a worry wort! and would like to protect this 1933 engine.
I have a model B 4 cylinder 1933 end that sat dormant for 20 years. Cleans out the oil pan....Not too dirty,,, I want to use motor oil to clean out the engine. I plan to change the oil dozens of times to clean out the engine. What do you reccomend?
I have several streaks in the black paint showing thw white primer underneath. Is there any way I can touch up the paint and then compound to blend. I am not looking for perfection but pnly to make it less noticable.
I have a detatched free standing Model A engine. How can I be certain that there is NO WATER trapped in the block that could cause ice damage during the winter?
I use JASCO paint and prep for rust. It transforms the rust to a stable iron compund. At least it will prevent it from growing. Usually results in a black metal coating, but you can paint touch up the small areas with silver rustoleum paint or just leave the back areas along for character, At least the rust won't grow.
There seems to be a lot of obstructions preventing the dropping of the oil Pan on an model B 1933 sedan. Has anyone dropped the pan on this ford 1933 or 1932 model B
