  1. When the ends of the fuel line have brass furrels, should they be soldered in place?
  2. Who sells 3 ft or 1/4 in copper coated steel fuel line?
  3. The fuel line between my fuel pump and carb is copper plated steel. I notice many people use rubber lines in this location. Is the use of copper plated steel only for historical accuracy . What should really be used there?
  4. Thanks. The only reason I am asking was that I told the guy at NAPA that I was going to cut hose with a razor knife and he said well you will get an uneven edge with that. It was like a big secret as to cut a rubber hose the right way.
  5. Make sure your car originally had backing for the mats and rugs. I have a 1933 ford and search and found out, unless I am wrong, that the front and rear rubber mats were laid right on the metal floors.
  6. When I purchased red strip replica hoses from MAC's I, and I am ashamed of Myself, never considered the integrity of these hoses which came from wherever, India, China...Borneo??? The hose cracked and failed after 5 months, with approx 40 miles put on the hose. I bought Gates hoses from NAPA and noticed they were made in MEXICO!!. Hasta La Vista Baby.!!! I guess we only make Burgers in THe USA these days!
  7. Puting it on. I have a 3 ft section and need to size to 9 inches long.
  8. Can't find it at harbor freight? What is the actual name?

  10. What is the best way to cut a radiator hose? Hack saw???
  11. Looking for an engine from 1933 to rebuild. How do you check for a cracked block?
  12. I was told I should be using propylene glycol to protect my babbitt bearings
  13. Thanks a lot. I was told that in the 30s cars used alcohol for coolant. Do any antique car owners still use this?
  14. Should a car have pure antifreeze in winter or the half antifreeze4 and half distilled water?
  15. True, however, if the caulking compound is to thick it will not flow easily thru a very small hole.
  16. Thanks Mr O'Tool you are THE MAN! Is there a way I can get a narrow bead 1/16-1/8 inch rather than the usual thick 1/4 inch bead That you usually get from a caulking gun. Show I get material in a small tube that you squeeze by hand rather than the large cylinder that you use in a caulking gun?
  17. The roof border on my 33 ford has pulled away from the metal body by approx 1/16 inch in a few areas. The roof is very good condition and would not like to replace at this time. I don't really plan to drive the car in sever weather, but would like to run a bead of waterproof "silicon or something to seal this gap. I am looking for a product that will produce a thin bead 1/16 inch because I don't want to apply excess material and make a mess of everything. Does anyone know a good corking compound that would work here? Thanks for your help
  18. Steering wheels can be a real problem to remove.. There are special pullers that work much better than others. In other words..It is a real problem to pull a steering wheel off an antique car. Be very careful.
  19. Be careful Ken..Some people rather fix a steering wheel on the car...A real pain, no doubt..but many have encountered real big problems trying to remove a steering wheel.. Remember.. these are old cars..many components are rusted solid together and to try to remove they could break many things. I have a 1933 ford, and try to do as little disassemble as possible unless I really have too.
  20. Is it a good idea to install a battery cutoff switch for an antique car? Do you install it on the power side of the battery or the ground side??
  21. Great info and details, I appreciate it.
