  1. Unfortunately I have no agent, I've been dealing on the phone with J C Taylor for many years as I have another restored vehicle.  I cannot believe they have not encountered this type of request in the past.  This may be more difficult to define.  There are restored and newly purchased parts of this car all stored in my garage.  Just because they have not been assembled to the car does not mean they have not been paid for.

  2. You purchase an unrestored vehicle for x number of dollars and you begin restoration.  I've been waiting over 2 years to have an engine completed.  Fenders are being restored.  A lot of money is being spent.  It can take years to restore a vehicle to completion.  I wanted my insurer to increase the value of the vehicle under restoration to reflect what has been spent so far in the restoration process.  I got an unfavorable response saying until the vehicle is complete they would not let me increase it's value.  I pressed them and they said they would consider my request if I was able to send them photos showing the engine installed in the vehicle.  The vehicle has to have the restored parts installed with photos taken and sent to them for their review.  Surely anything under construction increases in value as the construction continues.  Is this typical for collector vehicles or should I find myself another insurance carrier?

  3. Hi dl456, thanks for the input.  Regarding Witmer's, was it difficult to finish their bows?  And who know's anything about Mel and his work?  Also do you have a source for the sockets at the end of the bows?  Thank you.

  4. Back in a 2003 post some information was given on this topic.  Oak Bows in PA, Witmer's Coach in PA and someone by the name of Mel's at 419-368-3226.  Any of these places still doing business?  Any new ones to try?

  5. Believe me I'm aware of all the hard work that goes into putting on this event.  Thank you all for your hard work.  Now for the flea market.  Someone should take "inventory" of members pledging spots and not showing up, members using their spots for motorhome parking and selling next to nothing and sometimes selling things not even remotely automotive in nature.  Then a consolidation should be undertaken with only true automotive type vendors allowed to participate who have a track record of showing up.  Yes, the flea market would shrink considerably but what remains would be easier and more rewarding to negotiate for the walking types (like me).  Oh, and the motorized golf carts, scooters and etc.  It is apparent many non-handicap individuals are riding around who do not require motorized assistance.

  6. Hi everyone, I'm not the one needing the top irons, I've been trying to help a friend find a set.  He is working on a 1928 Model 72 Chrysler roadster as I am.  Perhaps something will turn up.  Thank you all for your input.

  7. This is going to be interesting because I asked the same question in a previous post for my model 72 roadster.  No one at that time could produce any documentation for late 1920's Chrysler open cars.  Perhaps you will be more fortunate and get an answer.  Consolation is that a Model A Ford open car Trico motor will fit in the same place.  If you look at photos of restored cars that show you the wiper motor you will see none are correct because they have a pull/push control on them.  The correct one for our Chrysler's will not have that because the vacuum line is controlled by the valve switch mounted on the steering column along with the ignition switch and fumar control.

  10. There are many different sizes of these pullers so you must be certain what you are looking for and what is being sold to you.  I found one at Hershey last year for my 28 Model 72, better if you could examine and measure what you are buying yourself.  Many of the ones I see on ebay are being offered by people who do not know the exact size of the puller.  In the photo above I prefer the puller with the locking bolt on the side.  It insures a tight fit even if the threads are worn.  You cannot pull the rear hubs on your Chrysler without one of these pullers.
