Hey guys, great work! Great information. Now the questions. Here is a photo of what I believe to be my oil filter and yes the holes do line up. This filter only has one strap, some other ones I've seen like the one in your wreck are twice as large and have two straps. Are there filters for my unit? My vacuum tank is a Stewart Warner, have no idea how to service it. The fittings for the vacuum tank and oil filter and gas lines, where can they be obtained? Where you label things as "clamps" like "gas line clamp", "thin auto vacuum tube clamp", "wiring clamp hole" just what are these clamps? Thank you.

I want to put the car up on jack stands. If I'm to place the jack under where the springs attach to the axle, where do I place the jack stands?

A heater in a roadster.....Bizarre! Anything else to note? What about the holes for the firewall insulating mat? Are they the small holes up both "legs" of the firewall?
-

Does anyone have a diagram of the firewall showing what holes are for what purpose? Some of the holes are obvious for mounting the brake canister, vacuum tank and coil, the holes which are for controls, vacuum lines and wires are not. And then there's the possibility of additional holes made by some previous owner which should not be there at all.

Thank you, now I get it.....

OK now I'm confused. Don't have to worry about anything flying off or blowing up because all 4 wheels are pretty much flat, only the sidewalls of the old tires are holding this baby up. I bought a nice old tire spreading tool, Master Junior, looks fairly unused. But seriously, how do I proceed with split ring?

My set is from a 1928 Chrysler (see photo). Some restorers have done a fantastic job of stripping and refinishing these by hand as seen on other posts. Has anyone opted to have their wheels stripped commercially? Sandblasting is definitely out for the wood portion of the wheel but some commercial strippers use plastic or some other softer media to strip paint and old varnish off wood. And what about the weights around the rim, I've been told they are usually brass? Recommendations?

Thank you ipeeforward.

Thank you dc-8dave, again like with the lack of tires and jack information I posted about the owners manual says nothing about the seats or any adjustments thereof, bizarre. I do notice that in this photo the drivers seat is larger than the passengers. Another mystery..

Thanks, have a nice day......................

I received 7 springs with my car and have no clue as to where they go or if they are even correct for this year and body. I've posted some photos. First photo is one of 4 springs, they appear to have a left and a right, don't know which this is. Second photo with the metal tubed base is one of two which appear to be identical. Third and forth photos are the top and bottom of the same piece and there was only one. The fifth photo is the pair of springs from the first photo showing the left and right together. The inside body of the car body offers no information except two squared recessed wood enclosures for the driver and passenger, the rumble seat area is a rectangular wood area with a flat floor. Any information would be most helpful.

Hey 28 Chrysler, will a split rim tool be required to spread the rim back into place after the tire is changed. Also do you have an opinion on how to refinish the wheels metal and wood parts. I've read some posts which say if the spokes are sound and not loose it's not required to disassemble the wheel. And then there are those balancing weights?
-
Tinindian, thanks for your input, yes I've tried to look through previous posts and yes there is a lot of information about refinishing wood wheels which is all very good. But I need some specific information about the 1928 Chrysler wood wheel on a Model 72 which takes a 600 X 18 tire as the photo above shows.

OK, I'll suspend my disbelief. In the owners manual there is no information on how to change a tire? Where the jack goes? How to remove a tire from the rim? Am I missing something? How could they have omitted this valuable information in 1928 from the owners manual?

Great early Chrysler guy, very knowledgeable...............

Looking for a pair.

Hey vintchry, thank you but I doubt it. I have a Model A Ford and the 4 cylinder engine in that has been quoted many times as weighing 475 lbs. I find it hard to believe this question has not been beat to death in past posts......
-
Thank you FLYER15015, good tip, but still no one can tell me the weight of the engine and trans.........OYE.
-
Hey 28 Chrysler, if the bottom photo it is a 1928 engine it appears they were black except for the exhaust/intake manifold, cylinder head and water outlet. If not ?
-
Thank you. So this information has been taken from an early Chilton manual. I wonder if all these reprints take their information from the same source.
-
Wonderful! And the weight? I'm looking to see if my equipment is up to the task.
OK this is incredible, no place that I've looked in online searches or Chrysler manuals or Chrysler parts manuals has any information about the weight of the engine or trans. No one has ever asked or talked about this before........bizarre!
