  1. Last one i purchased was from Cars  a few years ago, for a 69 skylark ,---Old Buick Parts---and it was very good , they have  regular  32 ounce,

or heavy duty  38 ounce,  for memory the the price was  very fare for the  quality, and as  NTX5467  says  make sure you

get a  pro that knows  what he is doing  is  critical  to a good  finish.

I need one my self, for my 64 Electra ,but the shipping is very bad and expensive  right now i will wait  until

i come over to  US in about  1 or 2 years  to a National  and bring one back  with me.-- regards.---

PS  i can hardly see through my  rear window.

  2. I found these  photos i took when i went to Buick  national in year 2000  Virginia ,i am sorry as i did not have Digital camera then , so the photos are  are not very good , but i remember  well  because these  two cars were fantastic

especially  that i had never seen these before.

First is the fantastic Buick Blackhawk special hand built by Buick ,and powered by 1970 455ci Buick type 111 V8,

I thick for memory was sold  about 2010 for over $500.000  at Barrett Jackson.

Second was the fabulous Buick Lacrosse concept built just before that meet, for memory it had voice recognition

for all switches  inside,,and had  a fastback  roof line .that also was removable,--photo of my wife and myself.

i am not sure what or of its wearabouts these days--- but  two incredible  historical Buicks.

Hope the GM staff member does not mind me showing  him in the second photo.

    Thank you.---GM.

  3. Thought i would  air my views on this Riviera,--first  thing to always check is the sellers feedback--at 85% that

is one of the lowest on ebay for the amount of sales they  make,--i actually  got very interested in another  classic they had

about 9 months ago--but i did not go any further with it,---that being said  as Seafoam 65 says it is a very nice example,

and being a clone  one can get away with  items that are not correct, like engine, the wheels like Seafoam 65 said, but there quite a few smaller items

i can sea that are incorrect, and i suspect that all mechanics transmission, engine, fuel related, would really have to be checked out.

Me personally would never buy this car ,because im not a green person--i dont mind the exterior green,  but not all green inside as well.

I would think you should find a similar stamping on the small horn as well.  I know that the horns for the 63s, 64s, and 65s had stamps on both extra horns. It appears that the horns used in 68 may have been a carry over. From this chart for the 63 - 65 horns, the 22" horns for 64 and 65 were both stamped with 897 like yours.  Look at your small horn to see if it's the same as the small 65 horn, or perhaps one of the other small horns.  I got this information from the ROA's website.

  5. Agree with Chris--start with basics--especially with  points and  condenser , many times i have found

that previous supposedly good mechanics  have changed  electronics  but  not correct.

Always   do electrics first then go to  fuel  and other items. .What happens alot is the points can actually  close up

because of  no lube on   distributor cam  over years, and  end up with a gap of   from 5 to 8 thou, this causes alot of problems

as it  developes  pits and holes in   points , so condenser can not do its job correctly--always change both  points and condenser.

Like John said   check spark plug wires,   and  advance system on distributer  and vacuums.

  6. Go check the antenna  connections--similiar thing  happened  to me  when i received  it from US,

even though the antenna was connected , i un hooked it, tighten  up the  base  bolt  as it was loose ,

connected  antenna  up again,  and radio   went---could not believe it,----then i had to tune it in

you probably know how to,---but it is the small screw  in behind the  radio knob  on right side,

with antenna all the way up.----regards.

  7. You will be really proud of  your new classic, i know your  comment when driving  a 430ci,

they are  great to drive,  you will have to keep an eye out for  a passenger  side mirror,

i fitted one to my  64 Electra convertible----a lot easy to get in and out of garage  now.

and when passing, especially here  in Australia   on the other side of the road ,being  all other cars

right hand drive.---Happy Motoring 60s Buick Fan--.

    Thank you

Kevrev  is correct, but here is a tip, when using the contact spray cement, use masking tape all  around

like you are going to paint,   ---but give it  2 coats of spray about 25 30 minutes  between coats,

    it will  work great.----regards.

  9. Its quite funny you mentioned you had   awful  Hankook tires on  your Buick now,---but actually  most of that brand

have a fairly good reputation,---depends on the  brand  model spec that you have,---very popular  for  alot of european model classics,

i had  a set on a 1958 Porsche 356 speedster, and they were great, i personally would not  use  bias  ply on   a Wildcat  unless it was a full show car,

But would fit  a  really good  radial set  to the factory size-and white wall.--good luck.

For memory i fitted  235x70x15 radials on my 65 Riv,--and it was fantastic,-- and you can even get  punctures

    from a bolt,---not just nails.

The one close up of the smaller of the two four note horns shows a "b" on it.  That's what it's tuned to.  Does anyone know what the other three are tuned to?

Hi RivNut---on my 64 Electra-- the  1  small and 1 large  trumpet horns on drivers side are un marked,---but the other  2 on  passenger side by  a/c dryer   are  marked  E  that is low  and  F that is high.----but i removed those and fitted  the 4 note horns from late eighties that were fitted to Buick--Caddy, Olds,   because they really sound great---Santa Fe, freight  train   sound.   they are A-C-D-F   .  i have had these since   1991.

  11. RIVNIK and protrash63 and Telriv---no problem  yes correct about glove box  lids, i have  just recently  changed the spring

in my Electra glove box lid, as   car came all broken  hinges  and missing parts--no liner--so i changed spring to about half the   tension spring rate,

Was actually  not that easy to repair ,as most parts there are plastic  and have to be placed in the correct position.-, for lid to fit correct.

i never ever touched the Riviera .

Also the cup holder  are  PeP  Boyes  about 30 years old probably  still available.

About my radio in the Electra convertible i fitted  new speakers in front and rear stock  factory position.

and will keep original factory speckers in case  sell later.

  12. With all my Buicks and other classics ,over the years i have just left  the stock factory radio in place ,but fitted  a modern CD player,

in another  position   like under dash, in glove boxes, etc,  but i like to use only user friendly  CD players as most  are full of

buttons and i find very hard to use.

Always hot wired from cigarette lighter wire  with a in line fuse, so i can use anytime  with ignition off.

i actually go to my garage  now and again ,sit in my Buick and listen to music ,from my favourite CDs.

Photos  from 65 Riviera  10 years ago, and my present  64 Electra with a 2008 Corolla  CD, its fantastic to use.

Also  i always like to keep the original radio in place --in case i sell later on,  and i dont consider my car  a show car.

I ain't getting this. Is the car parked in the street when you don't feel safe?

Or do you mean side marker lights that don't flash like a hazard light would?

Hello 60flat,top--not sure i understand you,  but no i mean not as safe as a modern car, that is why  i fitted hazard lights,

not when parked on street,---but when driving--i can now use  hazard lights-- both rear and front signal lights flash when i need them,

Here they are called indicator lights or parking lights---,that is how they are connected on  my original photos.  hope that helps. regards.

  14. Just in case you dont know this ,card board is one of the best insulations available  ,and its usually free.

For years now i have used this  fabulous product when storing my classics,---in fact i stored eight classics

in New Zealand-- for 11 years while i lived in US,---1991  to 1992, and where i use it is under the car on

concrete floors, it provides terrific insulation  because it has a corrugated  cavity of air between the layers,

and stops  cold damp  situations , especially if your floor does not have a damp proof insulation under concrete.

Now -- i guess you in US  are getting ready to put your baby to sleep for about six months   so thought this may help,--dont ask me how i know--as i was born in one of the worlds  southern most  cities --Invercargill.

A wet cold damp place to live.
