I am working on putting back together a 29 soft top coupe and can't figure out where this piece is supposed to go, any ideas?

Hello I am looking for a 29-32 Desoto roadster project rough condition ok, can not afford a restored one though. Thanks Todd lakesidemetal@aol.com or pm.

Well I have been going through all the loose parts and found many that go to the 29, looks to be a model U coupe with landau bars, engine number U22844 with a lower block stamping of 2.19.9 Take it to mean Feb. 19,1929? best part is the cowl posts were not hacked off there was a trim piece that covers the openings. Still trying to do the forensics on a few more wood and metal pieces. Worst part is the drivers door which was hacked off at the bottom but in the extra parts pile are two others with the same beltline but diff. dimensions, must have been the previous owners intention to fab up the missing section from these doors. Engine looks like it should run (carb. opening was covered in aluminum foil) and looks very complete also the driveline looks to have been gone through. Sure would like to get that door from Plymouth Rust who posted back in Oct. 14 with a similar project.

Interesting looks the same except for the fabric top.
-
It would seem strange for a 31 not have wood but a 32 to have more wood?
-
The front end sure does look different than mine also seems to have a wood/fabric roof on that one. Thanks

Looks like the body was put on a lighter frame with wire rims, I will try to find a frame number.

I think I have figured out most of the parts with the exception of the bows or??? in the last photo and the fabric covered pull device with the round end? any ideas? Thanks

Well here are the numbers off the engines: The one with the red head reads PI8*72386* (the asterisks are stars) The one with the chain on top reads PDI 59439 The one with the plug wire harness on it reads D8-98982 Also found one (not pictured) with no numbers??

I have to spend some time sorting all the parts I have and go from there, would be nice to put a truck together but it is missing a driver door.
-
I will pull some numbers on Monday and see what's there, hate to leave them for the scrappers but it will be a lot of work getting them home.

Collection of some parts I have been hauling home from an estate, supposedly early 30/s Plymouth stuff.
