  1. There was a perfect chrome strip sitting where the hood pieces would meet the body and a match to it sitting beside car. Where did the second matching strip go?
  2. Next time I'm there I will try to open the door. Could be what the headlights went to. They were within a hundred feet. thanks once again.
  3. What year Chrysler is this? Its well on its way to rust, a few strips of chrome left. The hood is inside and intact, chrome strip down the middle. the frame next to it has a 18 inch plus tree in the middle of it. Front window frames crumble in your hands and only the chrome locking ring and nut are left. Two tags on firewall "Chrysler MFG" and a four didget one.
  4. Came across this old fender and taillight, the rest of the car is a former heap of itself. The inside door handels seem to be silver plate and detailed designs. They used a lot of wood.
  5. Thanks Had a leg up as I saw the Chrysler logo on the top center, But the rest was a guess. The one on the right has a small dent on inside. They are on a bar that goes through the grill shell. Is it best to keep all together. or cut the bar and haul it out in three parts. I'm assuming it worth something. I'm salvaging what I can from a 37 Plymouth close by.
  6. Is this the headlights for a 28 Chrysler?
  7. I have a matching pair 0f 1937 New York Plates, un-restored. Decent shape minor rust lower right corner on both. Pictures on request. 65.00 includes shipping. I'm looking for a matching set of Virginia 1937. Thanks. Give me a PM if interested or call 540-428-2079 SOLD
  8. Spoke to my Sister this last weekend and she said the vehicle they took out of a building at the Sam Winer Junk yard was an Elcar converted to a truck. Check the online Elkhart Truth sometime in the early 60s and the story is there. The junk yard is only three or four blocks from where they were built.
  9. I checked with my sister in Elkhart and the Ruthmere Mansion on Beardsley street has a restored Elcar, check the website for tour days. They also have a few other old cars. I don’t know if they came from Hubbard Hill or one of the other collections in town. I’ve been gone too long.
  10. I talked to the night watchman (from the Elcars) as a kid. he still had his black round mechanical device that had to be wound at every watch station to prove you were making your rounds. He claimed the fire was not accidental and kept the device to prove he made his rounds. Most of the kids that sold newspapers and metal for scrape knew the truck and several old cars were back there.
  11. Check with Sam Winer junk yard on Prospect Street Elkhart. Going in those building is a walk back in time. I think they had a truck made by the same company. The son (65 +/-) took down a old shed wall in the 60s and rolled it across folks yard to Crawford street, made the local newspaper. If I remember the story right the shutter car plant had a fire of unknown origins. The Hubbard Hill stuff was Mr. Fieldhouses life time collection. He had old cars stuffed everywhere around town. He donated paint (Fieldhouse Blue) to paint everything that didn’t move.
  12. In our local Valley trader was the following add. Sears 1953 Allstate No motor or transmission 1500$ 301-268-4549. Only one of 797 branded by them that year.
  13. Look for the snap in type used in equipment racks, I'm sure they can be modified and come in numerous sizes and threads, called cage nuts.
  14. Anybody ever try the electronic or ultrasonic mice machines? They are suppose to deter any critter with an electronic sound that doesn't bother dogs or cats. I use the ones from Tractor Supply (Three settings) in the garage and well house. They work, highest setting will get to you in a short time. Right after we moved in wife bought two and I plugged one in to test. A mouse was in a cracker box in the panty, shook it off the shelf. Sold me.
  15. Sale over, low end either 30 or 50 dollars, most went for 100 to 350 or so, only one, a driver( un-restored), went for over 2000. A plate or two from Texas, a half dozen or more from Oklahoma. Half minus engines drive trains.
  16. Took a look at the local newspaper tonight and a local Auction House is selling 31 Henry Js on March 3rd. Yes that was "31" no titles it seems. Check out the site. Pictures ect. Pete Richardson Auctions
  17. Sorry I did not fully depict the vintage Ford. "The best car I ever had was a Ford". A 64 & 1/2 mustang convertible with 260/w/alternator/electric top. Giving full "Power of Attorney" to another while in RVN is in the top 10 dumb things I have ever done. I'll go back to working on my 37s.
  18. I stopped by an older gentleman’s (80s) place on Saturday in Strasburg Va. on my way to the mountains to hunt grouse. He had offered a 39 Plymouth motor for sale with a transmission that I wanted to look at. In his side yard was an old gas pump with all the innards, glass cylinder was unbroken. Sorry about the quality of the picture, but I had it set on e-mail. Also in side yard was this 55 Ford. Glass , trim, lenses seem to be there. Said he had some Ford motors from that time period also. Pm or e-mail and I will pass along his phone number. Saturday is last day of grouse so I will probably be passing that way again if someone wants better pictures. Its less than an hour away. City was giving him grief about the stuff, needs to clean up some.
  19. Do the goggle earth trick and look for them.
  20. Years back I use to visit one very large yard that specialized in vintage cars called Philbates in the West Point/New Kent area of Virginia (Lanexa). At one time he had over 8,000 cars dating back to the 1920 and some rare items. I am not sure if he is still around but the yard was on rolling hills and some brush so snakes and rodents were always present. It was a treat to just walk around the yard to simply look and fantasize what happened to the car and driver as well as thinking what can be done to restore it. I haven't thought of that place in years. When I lived in Westpoint Va. (70s) I made a lot of trips there to find parts for my father-laws cars/trucks. I'll ask my son to see what the deal is, he works for the sheriffs department in Gloucester. It appears to still be there and a source of parts. many references on the net
  21. I have seven NOS Champion X FORD (A-25) plugs in boxes, some have the paper wrapping and some dont. All have some surface rust. There is an i 46 on the end tab and I assume that means they were mfg in 1946. I would like 135$ for all and I will take care of shipping (USA) only. Thanks
