There are quite many Boattails here (I also have one from 71 🙂 ), but not many 1st gen Riviera. Very few 65 models, and I believe just one 65 GS ;-).

Don't misunderstand I really approve of your resurrection. But I was just wondering what went into your thinking when you chose of this car for your project?
Bill
Hi Bill,
It is GranSport.
You need also to know, that labor here in Poland (I mean working hour cost), is not that high as in the USA - so that also is changing the picture a bit.

Thank you Guys again, your comments are important to me. I see some big names here, people that are Riviera knowledge masters. I know you only virtually, thanks to this forum and thanks to being ROA member. I feel emotional.
Greetings from Poland, Europe to all of you

oops, I misspoke. My cars original color was Champagne Mist. I thought that was what u chose. Your choice is super nice too 👍🏼Champagne mist was also considered in this project. What we did, we took from junky yard three fenders (today's cars) and we have painted them with Shell Beige (original color for that car), Champagne Mist and Sahara Mist. After family and neighbor discussion, Shell Beige was canceled and the decision was between Champagne or Sahara. Sahara won :-).

Thank you Guys.

Thanks David. That car left factory with Shell Beige, but we decided to paint it with Sahara Mist.

I was chatting with Paul some time ago regarding his console vinyl restoration.
RIP Paul.

OK, gotcha -- even less of a concern. Will probably live the rest of its life in the valley. Worst case is it falls into the sump...
That is the only thing I would be afraid of - the rubber could fall apart into smaller pieces and could reduce oil suction at the oil pick up tube.

Go back and re-read Gene's post or this quote from his post "I put the both rear sections in, one for standard, and one for the remote trunk release." Look at the picture. The large pieced in the upper right is for the remote release, the one in the lower left is for the non remote.
Thank you Ed, I missed it obviously.

the valley pan which is identical to image above actually has the edges pointed down.
Well, my memory serves not that well anymore 😉 . Good luck with getting it out !

I got your PM, thank u. But Gene is saying there are two different styles kits. One for cars with remote trunk release & one without. I need 2 kits without remote release pleaseIs it so ? Then @riv2x4: I would need then one for remote release version....

I assume we are talking about 400/430/455 engine ? Most likely it rests on the valley pan metal gasket and it will stay there. The metal gasket has the upward edges, that in my opinion will prevent further falling down of the grommet.
You can also get endoscope camera for android telephone or tablet (they are quite cheap and surprisingly good), to locate the grommet through the hole it felt in - knowing the location maybe you could get it out with some copper wire, or with some other creative tricks 😉 ?
I have one of those $20 price area and it is really good !
Look for the one with LED light integrated (I think all of them have it, but just double check)

I could be the Chicago area drop spot for anyone interested. Further shipping or meet up could be arranged.
I will PM you delivery address. I am living in EU, so we can't meet at Chicago :-(. The address is the storage where I collect the parts for a common overseas shipping.

Does (did) this system work if you're not running the factory correct sized tires?
I think it should, as the 1st sensor is located at front driver's side wheel, and the 2nd is at the gearbox (shaft output). The CPU is measuring the difference between those two.

Hi,
I got some time ago an original Riviera banner from 60's, that I have restored. The box is now new, made of walnut wood (original was made of chipboard, but was in bad condition as you can see at the pictures). The alu frames around the box are original, transferred to the new box. The internal parts are replaced completely:
- new LED bulb is not generating so much heat (no fan need)
- new motor that rotates the colored (original) disc
The fiber optic and black board is of course original.
New internals are not pictured here, but I can include if someone is interested.
Pictures (and movies how it works):
Riviera 65 project, 1st part finally done: body works

Thank you Steve,
I got it from the States in 2010. From another ROA member ... but that was pure luck. I got from him via Ebay a rim for my boattail. Then we started the conversation. He mention that he thinks to sell his 65, I said I always wanted one - not knowing it is GS. Then he send me spec. with statement it is GS. I had to buy it :-).
