  1. Chris, I would be interested in the curtain rods if they have the mounts on the ends (basically it is the mounts that I am after). Thanks, Michael
  2. Many thanks to Leif and Brian for responding to my query. I am pretty clear on what these parts are now. Part #9 turned out to be a control rod for the carburetor heat control that runs from the dash to the carb. Some one removed the entire system from the dash forward sometime in the past. It will be a challenge to locate all the other parts to complete this. Thanks, Michael
  3. I wish to extend my gratitude to those that responded to my query. I believe that I have a pretty good idea what these parts are now. I discovered that part #3 is a blanking plate that goes on the gas tank for those cars that have sidemounts (as my car does) and do not have the rear spare tire mount. Leif, where did you come across the diagrams and info on the locking sidemount device. Was this an aftermarket item? Thanks, Michael
  4. I just posted a couple of messages in the "What is it" forum, in an effort to identify some parts found in the trunk of my 1930 Buick Model 68 Victoria coupe that I recently acquired . Some may or may not go with the car, although I am not sure. Any help in identifying what these parts are would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michael
  5. I recently acquired a 1930 Buick Model 68 Victoria coupe and found a series of parts in the trunk. I am trying to identify what these parts are. Some may or may not go with the car, although I am not sure. Any help in identifying what these parts are would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michael Part #9: Some sort of rod, 32.25 inches long. Attaching 3 photos showing full length of the rod and each end. Part #10: Obviously a Buick running board step plate but what year is this for? Part #11: A Buick hubcap for wooden wheels but what year is this for? Not sure of the year as my car has wire wheels. Part #12: Have a pair of these. Chrome plated fairly heavy gauge steel with a spring inside in the center.
  6. I recently acquired a 1930 Buick Model 68 Victoria coupe and found a series of parts in the trunk. I am trying to identify what these parts are. Some may or may not go with the car, although I am not sure. Any help in identifying what these parts are would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michael Part #1: Appears to be some sort of anti-theft device as it has a key cylinder built into the center portion. Part #2: May be related to part #1 Part #3: May be related to part #1 Part #4: Something with a small gear. Not a clue. Part #5: Buick Taillight? Not sure of the year but I believe it to be before 1930. Part #6: A group of three parts that may be related as they were in the same bag. Not sure about this though. Part #7: Two broken pieces of a strap or brace of some kind perhaps? Not sure if they were part of the same piece or individual parts. Jagged edge of each does not match up to well with the other. Part #8: Two pieces of channel. Most likely from the interior of the car. What are they and where do they go? Note: Ran out of room for attachments so I will continue in a second message.
  7. I think I have figured out why some of mouldings are loose on my car. It appears I have an active infestation of powder post beetles! Anyone else experience this problem? Michael
  8. Mark, On second thought after examining this a bit closer, I notice the stud the window crank sits on should be square, while this one is round and star shaped (serrated anyway). Unfortunately this will not work out for me after all. Thanks, Michael
  9. Mark, I believe that may be just the ticket. Is it available? Thanks, Michael
  10. I have a problem with my moulding on my 30-68 in that the nails have lifted away from the wood in several places. Pressing on the lifted moulding will push the nails back into their original holes but of course they release again once pressure is released. They is no way to remove the wood (which I do not believe to be rotten anyway) and re-nail these sections of moulding without causing the problem Fred described above. I am considering using a waterproof epoxy and pressing the nails back into their holes as my options seem to be limited. Any ideas from others who have had to deal with this situation? Thanks, Michael
  11. Josef, Is this for wire or wooden wheels? Also could you post a picture of an example. I might have one for wooden wheels but I am not sure if it is for a 1930. Thanks, Michael
  12. Hi Mark, I think we may be missing the same sub-part. Mine is missing: 1. The little wheel on the end that rides in a track and 2. The entire area with stud and gear that the crank sits on. Thanks for looking out for me, Michael O'Docharty
  13. Hello, I'm in need of a window regulator mechanism for a 1930 Buick model 68. Need one for the right hand side, but will buy any that are available, as I can probably use part of a complete left side to fix my broken right one. Thanks, Michael
  14. Dwight, Thanks for the info on the colors. Were they ever painted all black? Mine is totally black and I dont see any indication of any other previous paint job. The paint is very old, severely alligatored and flaking off in areas revealing red-brown primer, but no color other than that. Thanks Again, Michael
  15. I just took delivery of my Buick and am trying to find out when this coupe was produced, although I am not sure exactly how the numbering system works. The following numbers are from my 1930 Model 68 5-passenger coupe. Job #30 122 Body #5976 Frame #2581434 Engine #228276 As I understand Dave Corbin is the man to see about this. Thanks, Michael O'Docharty Raleigh, NC
  16. Hi, I am missing a windshield wiper unit on my 1930 Buick model 68 and am looking to buy one. I am not completely sure, but I would think that one from a 40 or 50 series would work as well. Thanks, Michael
  17. Hi, I am missing the horn on my 1930 Buick model 68 and am looking to buy one. Prefer one that is in working condition. I am not completely sure, but I would think that one from a 40 or 50 series would work as well. Thanks, Michael
  18. Hello I am looking to buy a heat riser assembly for a 1930 Buick 60 series, 331 CI, 6 cylinder motor as mine has a big hole in it. This part sits at the bottom of the exhaust manifold prior to entering the exhaust pipe. I am attaching a photo with the part I need circled in red. Thanks, Michael
  19. Hello I am looking to buy a water outlet manifold for a 1930 Buick 60 series, 331 CI, 6 cylinder motor as mine is toast. I am attaching a photo with the part I need circled in red. Thanks, Michael
  20. Dwight, I just picked up my 1930 Model model 68 Victoria coupe yesterday. It has a broken windshield that I believe to be original and it is definitely safety glass. You should be in good shape. Thanks, Michael
  21. This will probably be a near impossible request to fill but I will throw it out there nevertheless. I am in need of a pair of opera light covers for the left and right rear interior corners of a 1930 Buick Model 68 5 window coupe. Would be willing to purchase the complete lights if someone has them available and doesn't want to break up a set. I am attaching a photo of the part I am looking for. Thanks, Michael O'Docharty
  22. Paul, Thank you so much on the sidemount hardware. I will be forever in your debt... Michael
  23. I am in need of a pair (one for each side) of the curved upper plates that attach the sidemounted spare tire to the car for a 1930 Model 68. Not sure of the proper name of the plate, but it sits at the top of the spare tire and is attached through a rod with a large wing nut. I am missing the wing nuts as well, although I think I may be able to purchase the wing nuts as reproductions. I am unable to find the plates. I'm attaching a picture of the part that I need. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michael O'Docharty Raleigh, NC
  24. Brian, Thank you for the information related to the BCA. I have gone ahead and joined and am looking forward to participating in the group. Michael O'Docharty
  25. I would like to thank all of those who replied with a response to my query. I went ahead and purchased the car based upon it's own merit, regardless of weather it or not it was previously owned by some famous person. I tend to doubt the Joe Louis story anyway due to the fact that the only evidence of that was a photo of Joe Louis with a 1930 Coupe, although not necessarily this one. As a side note would anyone know of a good painter in the Raleigh area who deals with classic cars? Thanks Again, Michael
