  1. Text: Dear Friends: In 1994 I acquired this 1900-03 CDO clone motor from CDO expert George Leonard of PA. Basically, all 1900,1901,1902,1903 CDO engines are the same, and most if not all parts will interchange. 1904,1905,1906,1907 one cylinder Olds engines are different from the earlier ones. This motor was removed in 1994 by George Leonard from a running 1903 CDO. He took the crank and flywheel from this engine and put them in a curved dash Olds engine he had, then put that complete CDO engine in the car he removed this engine from. The crank and flywheel from this motor bolted right in his CDO engine. Several years later I purchased a restored curved dash olds crank and reproduction CDO flywheel to put back with this engine,to make it basically complete. I believe it is now complete, minus the side shaft rod, timer, and carb. I believe someone in the CDO club reproduces the sideshaft rod and timer, and any early carb will work on this engine. National CDO expert Gary Hoonesbeen has reviewed the photos years ago,and told me the the head and jug are CDO clone,as several companies made CDO clones, due to their popularity, and were sold by Dykes,Neustadt-Perry,etc parts companies. However, according to George Leonard, it will bolt right in to a 1900-03 CDO. As you can see all of it is excellent. There is a 100 year old or so repair on the head, which looks as if it has never leaked. Otherwise the rest of it looks super.I paid George $3,500 for it in 1994,as CDO loose engines were super scarce then,as they are now also scarce. The reserve is $3,600 or a buy it now for $3,900. Please call or email me if you wish to purchase it,rather than clicking the buy it now button. Also please pay by check or wire. Shipping is $150 due to weight,or I will deliver to Hershey for free.Motor must be fully paid for within 7 days of purchase. This clone engine is historically correct as a replacement engine for any 1900 to 1906 horseless carriage, car, automobile, auto, buggy, including Brennan,Reo,Packard,Ford,Cadillac,Rambler,Northern ,etc. I reserve the right to end the auction early,as the engine is also for sale on www.aaca.org and www.hcca.org for $3,900. Please see my other auctions of early car parts and engines. Please email or call with questions to my personal email,as I'll see it faster. Good Luck! 5. Dear Friends: My 1900 Orient bicycle, with the 1900 American Tricycle Co. trike attachment, and 1900 French made Aster 3 1/4 HP engine project, which was on Ebay last week, has been sold to one of the bidders after the auction ended. We had 4,500 visitors and 147 watchers to the auction! I can't give you a good reason, but I have also decided to put up for sale my 1900 De Dion 2 3/4 HP aircooled quadricycle or tricycle engine, with super rare French Bozier clutch attachment with it.(See enclosed photos). I bought this out of a private collection in France several years ago. It appears that it has had VERY little use!!! The engine and clutch are as close to mint as is possible for a 110 years old engine. There are no crankcase cracks,no broken head fins, etc. The timer is complete and the drive gears between the engine and clutch look like new. You will notice there is a mounting bracket on the top of one the head bolts, and one of the crankcase bolts is longer and sticks out. These two places is where the engine bolted to the back of the quadricycle or tricycle. The engine serial # puts it in the late 1900 or early 1901 date category, according to the serial #s of De Dion Bouton quads and trikes in the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain owners roster,of which I am a member. I know you all know how rare this setup is,and its correct for any European or American quadricycle or tricycle, and motorcycle, including Waltham Orient. In fact, the Bozier clutch was an option on De Dion and Orient quads and trikes. The last photo is one I found on the Internet, showing this exact setup mounted in a circa 1900 De Dion Bouton quad,so you can see what levers you must buy from Austin Parkinson in the UK,Bob Steffelar in the Netherlands,or fabricate yourself. Price for the setup is $7,900,plus $100 for UPS,or will deliver to Hershey for free. George Albright,Ocala,Florida. cell 352 843 1624 Email: gnalbright@gmail.com<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

  7. Dear Gentlemen; Let me clear up whats going on here: The Ebay auction someone linked to right above was the original auction where it was listed and sold. The high bidder backed out,and I paid the seller quite a bit more money to sell it to me,rather than repost it on Ebay,as he had enormous interest in the first auction. Had I been able to bid at the first auction,I would have bid substantially more than it originally sold for,as I understand its great historic value. It was probably copied from one of the half dozen or so mid 30s Scout Scarabs that still survive, and that are now worth well into 6 figures. They, like this vehicle, roamed the streets of Detroit in the 1930s and 40s.If we prove the rumour that it was built for,and displayed at the 1939 Worlds Fair, then you guys know what happens to its value! My offer to sell it to someone crazier than me for 25K was only a casual remark meant to question my sanity and judgement in the first place!! Anyway,I look foward to moving it soon from Grand Rapids Michigan,to Ocala,Fla. Once I can examine it in person,I will give you guys a blow by blow report! George

  9. Does anyone out there have the phone numbers and email address for Mr. Ron Schneider of Wilwaukee Wisconsin. I understand he owns 2 1936 Scout Scarabs. He might be able to help me me decide how to repower my circa 1935 streamlined vehicle, which has a similar setup. Thanks,George Albright,Ocala,Fla. 13. Wanted: back issues of Hot Rod Deluxe magazine, reasonable. I believe they started reissuing this magazine again in 2007. Need for research purposes. Leads appreciated. Thanks,George Albright,Ocala,Fla. Email: gnalbright@gmail.com cell 352 843 1624
  14. Guys I studied this car,did some research on it,and called the past Velie Club Pres. who knows the car well. I almost bought it but I'm simply covered up with too many cars already. Sound familiar?? Anyway its a rare and wonderful car in super mechanical shape and is a great tour car,and a great investment at that price, which is what you'll pay for a nice Model A Ford! That is my 2 cents worth. George

The new Ebay auction number is 260468796558. Four emails of more photos still avail. from me by requesting them from my email address. George Albright email gnalbright@gmail.com cell 352 843 1624
