  2. Well deserved Tom, Your years of hard work have resulted in a magnificent car. some other beautiful cars also posted in this thread.
  3. sure looks good, your perseverance is paying dividends
  4. and nothing gives a convertible a more complete look than when the top is down and the boot is on.
  5. I see that a 1940 Lincoln Convertible formerlly owned by Babe Ruth is going to be in the Pebble Beach auction. I thought it may be fun for forum members to go on record with estimates of what the net selling price will be. (not including auction fees) I say $95,000.00 what say you?
  6. nice touch on the bumper guard. Know you have been looking to do that for a while now.
  7. I was just driving on Pacific Coast Highway & saw a silver Continental Coupe Post War in Corona Del Mar at a gas station. Never seen this car in the area before, wondering if the owner is a forum member?
  8. Thanks for the replies, Always great to hear progress reports. Tom, sounds like you are slacking a bit (sarcasm)
  9. Wondering if anyone wants to share what projects they are doing on their Lincoln this winter?
  10. Yes, I believe I've seen that car advertised for sale with an 85K asking price for the past 2 years. Did you hear the announcer say it was the little Lincoln in 38 with Continental being the big Lincoln. He must have some priviledged inside information from Lincoln.
  11. Seems the Continental usually carries about a 20% higher market value than the non Continental post war Lincoln. I can tell you that Barrett Jackson relies heavily on what the owner of the car tells them when they consign the car verses having actual confirmed information. As in any buying situation the buyer needs to have done their own homework on a car that they want to bid on. Also the television announcers throw out a lot of misinformation. No one can know everything about all vehicle marques but it bothers me when these announcers state things as fact that are incorrect. As far as barrett jackson not even labeling a car correctly in its auction description my feeling is their auctions are great car shows but not the best place to buy a car. The buyer who thinks it has to be a great car solely because it is being sold at a Barrett Jackson auction is misinformed.
  12. FYI, a 48 Lincoln convertible lot 64.1 sold @ Barrett Jackson yesterday for $44,000.00 plus auction fees It was labeled as a continental by the auction but it was not a continental. Sea Foam Green, older restoration. You can go to their web site and see pictures & description.
  13. Happy belated Birthday, Looks like you were able to spend some time with some iconic people. I really like the Rod you have built
  14. Hey, be sure to pull the back seat cushion up. Edsel may have lost some serious coin there!
  15. I think with the decline in the popularity of printed magazines Hemmings is trying to reach the broadest audience possible so they make sure the Independents get some coverage in each issue. I find something worthwhile in each of their issues. My Grandfather's car was a 1927 Jewett & one issue they actually had a short biography on Jewett himself. But I can see where their Lincoln V12 coverage is sparse. You guys should write up an article on your cars, along with photos and send it to them.
  16. Just received the latest copy of Hemmings Classic Cars (Jan.) and there is a 26,000 mile unrestored, very original 38 Zephyr coupe featured. Good Stuff!!
  17. congratulations, very nice Continental
  18. Received my copy of the latest Hemmings Classic Car magazine and there is a vintage picture of some Lincolns on a transporter. On top is a post war Lincoln Coupe and a Lincoln Continental Convertible I can not make out the 2 cars on the bottom, but it is an interesting period photo. It appears that the convertible has a cover over the soft top.
  19. Go to the home page Lincoln-Zephyr Owners Club accross the top, the menu is written over pictures of various Lincolns click on the black convertible that says sources
