Love that dashboard…….and the grille on the front!
Yeah, I'm sure that the barrel shaped grilles aren't to everyone's taste, but I've always liked them a lot. They're so distinctive. The dash is exquisite!

I've never given it much thought before this, but I think that, on balance, I'd prefer a Hydramatic, though I'm not sure why. Maybe clutch life?

What if you are most likely serious? Or kind of serious?
I think that you need to define the nature of your seriousness to proceed. You might inquire of the seller if he has a general outline of what he will consider serious questions, or if he possibly has a third party designated who is authorized to respond to questions in order to determine whether they are sufficiently serious enough for the seller to entertain.

We all know that as the years passed wheel/tire sizes got smaller. Maybe it's the fender lines, or maybe it's just my hypercritical nature, but I often think that they look too small on '31 and '32 Buicks.

Bumper stickers, magnetic advertising thing on glove box and window decals (with the exception of genuine gas rationing sticker) all add up to deficits, don't they?

Here's a link to a Facebook ad for a '55 New Yorker. It gives no info about the car, at all, but warns you to be serious about contacting the seller:
Marketplace - 1955 Chrysler New Yorker | Facebook
I'd be careful if I were you! ...and whatever you do, don't tell him that I suggested that you contact him!!!

Not that I'm aware of. Yellow, red (magenta), and blue (cyan), are the Primary colors that make up all of the colors you see. If you mix them equally, you get almost black.
Forgive me. I'm wrong here. Mixing red and green light makes yellow.

Stepdowns are really good cars and the 308 is unbeatable, but I see them as bellybutton Hudsons.
You know, everybody has one.
These are sharp 1940s cars, (tall and narrow) but were suddenly outdated in 1948. . . .
I am very satisfied with my 1942 Commodore 8 sedan, BUT I do wish that it was the long wheelbase version like this one. (called Commodore Custom for 1942)
Edit - added pictures of my 42 😊
Jim, I really like the colors on you '42. I've never been a fan of the more common blue/gray:

You're right, it does look like it is the same color. Maybe the difference is lighting, or maybe the subtleties of some screw-up in the mixing of toners. At least in the particular lighting, I don't find this one as offensive.

You can take your pick of the following, but I don't think any of them are factory, and I certainly don't think that cabriolet is a factory color:
-
Well, apparently the cabriolet sold for $26,250 and the coupe sold for $14,250.

Here's a link to a MN auction for a '35 Ford Cabriolet that is going on right now, and will close this evening Wed 7/6/. I'd be tickled if one of you were to buy the car, but that's not my reason for posting it. I just wanted to point out what I think is the most miserable yellow color that I've ever seen in my life. I normally like yellow well enough, but this one is atrocious. Auction site ( Farmington, MN) :Bid-2-Buy
Normally you can make yellow by mixing red and green, but clearly other things went into this batch of Devil's pee:

Being British , I agree quite a common term this side of the pond
meaning the car may had a few niggly problems , which have now been fixed ie sorted out
Example starting problems or issues like bad detailing
Currently I have brake problems with my Mga , which I would love to have sorted out 😁
The only problem with your answer is that now we have to speculate what "niggly" means.

If my memory serves me, these are the years when Nash had a fairly big list of models, both six- and eight-cylinder ones, i.e., "Big", "Advanced",etc. The seller's indifference is notable.

To me, sorted out means to get the vehicle tour ready.
Yes, but it has a much broader connotation to it. "Getting your things in order", but also correcting a situation or person. You might have to "sort out" your neighbor or son if their behavior was objectionable.

My brother that is more into antique bikes than myself, and also races an antique bike has talked about 'sorting' them for many years now. I thought it was a British thing.
Yes, it's definitely an English term and concept.

To be called a "lake" in Minnesota, the body of water has to be a minimum of four acres. There are closer to fifteen thousand lakes in Minnesota, actually. Some states even count stock ponds in order to up their numbers.

Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge and Plymouth basic bodies are identical. The Chrysler, DeSoto and Dodge and bodies all have additional holes for attaching stainless trim and more elaborate door window mechanisms. Also, metal roof hole inserts. The models with two-piece windshields have different upper cowls, but that doesn't affect doors. Plymouths have shorter wheelbases, so the front fenders are shorter. Fender differences and similarities are another subject.
-
Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge and Plymouth all used the same basic doors. The difference is the way the windows were designed and the stainless trim. You just can't put coupe doors on a sedan and vise versa. It's tricky because the coupe doors are the same length, front to back, as the four door sedans. The problem is the frames that the door skins are attached to are different shapes. Too much so to modify.

Thanks, Xander, I really appreciate it. I'm trying to contact the seller. I'll let you know if anything comes of it.

Was the dash painted the body color, and wood grained as shown, from the factory?
Yes, it appears that the ground color of the dashes is the body color, while the inserts are wood grained from the pics on Google Images:
'36s had the most stylish dashes, but '37s got quite simple and GM-like:

There were numerous nice color options from the factory. I don't know why someone would improvise when they had an otherwise high-end car to begin with. While I love greens in general, I really dislike mint green. I think that it's a shame, but I'd have to suggest trying to match the darker green and paint it all one color. Also, north of thirty grand requires that the roof fold down!
