  1. I would imagine plenty of us lucky guys were able to convince our future spouse of the coolness of having an antique automobile as part our wedding. I was fortunate to have met someone who shares my interest. It would be great to share those pictures with the rest of us old car guys/women. The car we had at our wedding 30 years ago (9.2.90). We had a 1938 Chrysler Royal Convertible. It was the perfect car for a perfect day.
  2. Any best practices on cleaning an ashtray of all the residue left over 80 years? Since it will never be used again in my lifetime, what is a good paint/color that appears well. Thanks
  3. Picnic lunch at the town common in Thompson, CT. Lots of history around the common to see. Beautiful day as well!
  4. Well as of today I exceeded my goal of 1K miles on the 1941 Buick Roadmaster 71C. Now I think I will take advice of Forrest Gump and just keep running.......
  5. This evening for ice cream overlooking Waterman Lake from the backseat of the car.
  6. Today was an beautiful day! Low temps and little to no humidity. Took a long ride to on some really nicely paved and shady roads to Woodstock, CT. Saw a 1987 Riv convertible on my travels. I cannot believe more antique cars were not on the road. If it as nice tomorrow, I will be on tour again.
  7. I am still surprised that I have not seen a classic on the road today. The weather could not have been better. I did see two model T’s and a 54 and 57 corvette.
  8. 96.3% of 1000 mile goal so far this year.
  9. Magnifique journée, hermoso dia, belo dia, bella giornata, or in English, beautiful day! Bright blue skies with a light breese and temperature of 75 degrees! It was so nice, I drove both Buick's today. Stayed in RI today. Took the Roadmaster to Coventry, West Greenwich, West Warwick, Scituate and finally to Foster to check out the progress on my brothers project. Went home and had lunch and packed up the Special with Bubba. He really wanted a ride today. We just drove around with no real purpose through Foster and Glocester. As with my tours, we did not see another antique car on the road! I should be close to 1K on the Roadmaster since spring.
  10. Sad to see not everyone was wearing masks. I fear the same would be true in Hershey. How do you police and enforce this as a requirement? That may prevent us from going to Hershey this year. The lack of respect for one another has kept me away from shows or car nights this year.
  11. Well it is not officially the weekend yet, but we needed to go out for ice cream tonight. Beautiful and pleasant temperature to ride in the evening at 73 degrees. Yes, Bubba managed to get some ice cream and cone too! We got home under darkness.
  12. Another hot weekend in New England. Saturday took a 93 mile cruise to Connecticut in the model 71C, from Putnam to Scotland and Canterbury to Brooklyn before stopping in Foster, RI. Stopped for a photo opportunity in the front of the Hampton Congregational Church. A very pretty town with several old colonial homes. Today, Sunday, we took out the model 41 for a ride with the dog. It was really to hot for us all. The air conditioning was not working and my sneakers felt like they were melting. It was a short 43 mile drive through Foster and Glocester. We did pick up pizza for lunch. I did not see any other antique Buicks on the road this weekend.
  13. My goal was 1000 miles this season on my 1941 Buick Roadmaster 71C. I am 88.7% there with plenty of good months ahead of me.
  14. Went on a 93 mile tour of Eastern CT and RI, with a photo op at the Congregational Church in Hampton, CT. Most of CT Route 79 outside of Pomfret was freshly paved providing a sweet ride from North to South passing many colonial homes. Still NO other classics on the road. Only saw a 1966 Lincoln.
  15. Not a perfect day in New England, but at least it was cool (74 degrees) for a ride to Thompson, CT. Did not see another antique car on the road. This seems to be more common lately than I would like. I have driven one of my Buicks at least one day each weekend since May. I wish more would do the same..
  16. Is there anyone in the northeastern Connecticut/ western R.I. area that might want to organize a COVID-19 mini tour?
  17. Why aren't more people driving their classic cars? I make it a point to drive my 41 Buick Roadmaster every weekend. I enjoy riding in the countryside in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. On the average I probably spend three hours or more and drive 100 miles on each outing. I have yet to see another classic car on the road. Today I did not see any antique cars except for a 1940 Rat-rod. Usually I will see some cars from the 50's and 60's, but maybe one or two. Have people stopped driving them for pleasure? Maybe I should start looking at more museums to see them........
  18. Another beautiful Sunday for a ride. This time to Northeast Connecticut, with a stop in Pomfret at the Pomfret School, where I took a picture in front of the school where my nephew graduated this past June.
  19. Another beautiful morning in Rogue Island for a drive. Decided to take a ride through the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts today without stopping due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Drove to Douglas, then on to Whitinsville and Uxbridge. Wow even the back roads were busy for some reason. This is the first day in more than a month that I have seen other antique cars on the road. I know they are out there but it seems very few are driving them. Too bad. Then came home and went for a swim. Someone else wanted a swim too.....
