  1. Note the plate is backward. Photo done with negative reversed. Cute little kid. He now owns the Black '54 up above.
  2. The guy behind the '54, better not be playing football!!!! .......and the back end looks as good as the front end.
  3. Keith: I too noticed something wrong with the side of "The Landau", but i couldn't put my finger on it. You may recall my comments in the opening post, "The Landau appears to be quite unkempt....." Dale: I always enjoy your comments even though we are not always in agreement. The beauty of the forums, to express opinion and not hate anyone for expressing the truth. One may not like the truth, but don't hate the messenger. My reasons for enjoying "The Landau" are numerous. I look toward "The Landau" show car, not as a glimpse into the future but rather a view to the past. The entire concept of "The Landau" was to take a modern car (at its time) and turn it into a classic luxury automobile. Reminiscent of the late '20's thru the very early '40's. It was more about what Buick was, rather than where it was going. The other show cars were doing that job. It was not about technology or innovation, but rather "Class and Style". My photos and link below, explains it much better than I. The second & third photos shows The 1941 Buick Limited Brunn Bodied Landau. Buicks example of their effort into the "Luxury Field". It could have worked, but Cadillac put a stop to that. See the link below of a related thread I started three years ago. http://forums.aaca.org/f165/1940-1941-buick-brunn-bodied-coachwork-274541.html
  4. Hey Lamar, Is that third photo a Girl On Buick? I noticed with interest (in the third photo), how the sweep spear, and the placement of the Century logo; are dramatically different to that of the actual 1954 production car.
  5. "The Buick and The Terrier" I have a fondness for these dogs. My wife and I had two of them.
  6. Recent addition to my collection. Real Photo Post Card. 1937 Buick Phaeton. Note the date and the senders remarks.
  7. Robert; Thank you for the info. I do have the issue you mentioned of Classic Car and I have also seen several of the uploads on You Tube that you mentioned. Last year I had the good fortune of seeing "The Landau" at the Buick Nationals in Danvers, Ma. The car is just.......well...... gorgeous. One of the best Buicks that I have seen, and have had a chance to enjoy, and admire. The car is stunning and its history is remarkable. Your family's ownership and involvement with "The Landau" adds to it's flavored history. Bob Coker has done an excellent job with it and also allowing others to see and enjoy the car. I hope that will continue in the future of "The Landau". I admit to being a bonafide "Buick Nut" and can not get enough of this car. Mr Earl I sure, would understand my sentiment.
  8. The more I think of this as a new Buick logo, the more it makes sense, and the more I like it.
  9. Putting us back on track..... from ebay.
  10. Maybe this will be the "New Buick Logo". http://forums.aaca.org/f115/gm-considers-revamping-buick-logo-340472.html#post1103632
  11. So, If we make some assumptions, here are the answers. I. B. G. = INDUSTRIAL BUSINESS GIRLS INDUSTRIAL BUSINESS GIRLS: An association out of Flint, Mi. Ivy Baker Priest: Secretary of the Treasury in 1954. The Buick tray reads "Buick salutes The I.B.G. and Ivy Baker Priest Flint Mich. Nov. 13, 1954. Thanks to all who helped.
  12. I agree. I believe Al has it. The association of Ivy Baker Priest with I.B.G. would also make sense at that time; with Priest serving as U.S. Treasury Secretary.
  13. I took this picture today with my ipad. It's a picture of an original photo. The original was taken late 1950's, of an "Old Country Store" and its parking lot located in Amherst Village, NH. This photo hangs above a door in that same store. The name of the store has changed over the years but the store and it's parking lot has not. The setting of this store is classic post card New England. I often go for a drive in my 1938 Buick to this location. Great village green setting. Oh! The 1955 Buick looks great in the photo too.
  14. Jim: Great looking Roadmaster. I grew up in a 1955 Buick. The first Buick I remember and why I love Buicks today. Your car brings back many good memories. Love the photos. In particular the first one with the Christmas wreaths. Very good depth.
  15. My hope, Red White and Blue, and a hint from the past.
  16. I bought this on eBay today. It is similar to the tray that Buick gave away, during the new model introduction in 1955. Who or what is I.B.G. ? Who or what was Ivy Baker Priest? (Ivy Baker Priest was US Treasurer during President Eisenhower. Is this the same Priest on the tray? First photo: The tray in question. Second photo: The 1955 give away tray. From my collection.
