Hudsy Wudsy
This one is plenty pricey, but you don't see '38 convertibles all that often and I thought that Greg LaR and a few of you might enjoy seeing it. Nicely equipped, including skirts (no emblem) and vent windows. However, it doesn't have a clock. keiser31
I LOVE this statement...."only 5 left in the United States". According to who? Google "1938 Plymouth convertible" and see quite a few more than 5. Edited March 20, 2018 by keiser31 (see edit history)
Guest
Yes, this is a fairly rare bird (although I agree, only 5 left is pretty wishful thinking) that you don't see every day. Has a few nice options, as you mentioned the skirts plus the driving lights, spot light, grill guard, radio, banjo steering wheel, heater, chrome exhaust tip and the wing windows look sharp but where the heck is that elusive clock? It's finished in Sand Beige which is probably Plymouth's nicest color offering for the year and the dash is body color too rather than wood-grained which is also correct for an open car. It's a later model as it has the headlight relocation upgrade. Oddly, the hood side grills have been painted over in body color, should be chrome. This car could really benefit from some better pictures, plus several more as well as a little better detail in the write up. Price might be a little stiff for such a spartan roadster but....it still looks like a nice little car. Would be fun to cruise Sunset Blvd. Thanks for sharing! Hudsy Wudsy
You're welcome, Greg. So you say that the open cars had body-colored dashes. I didn't know that. Interesting.
Guest
Yes, although I don't know why.
normanpitkin
Dash is body colour as they are welded in and so have to be painted at the same time as the body.
Guest
Hmmm, I didn't know they welded the open car dashboards in place. The coupes and sedans are bolt in.
Hudsy Wudsy
It's my guess that welding in the dash gave some additional needed strength to that part of the body where the doors were mounted.
Guest
Makes sense.
