jonlabree
I took it out to fill the tank yesterday and all was well. put it back on the tender when I got home. Today I went out to start it and nothing. I get a click from under the dash, but that's all. Checked all the terminals and grounds, still nothing. I got out the charger and hooked it up and without waiting any time I tried to start it. Hooray it started right away. What does it sound like? Ign switch? This has happened several times. handmedownreatta
bad starter solenoid probably or bad neutral safety switch?
padgett
Where did you connect the charger ? Both terminals on the battery or someplace else ? If you connected the ground to the chassis or the engine and not the battery there you are.
jonlabree
I connected the charger to the battery. Connected it turned it on , walked over to the drivers side and turned the key. It started. I'm thinking the starter or a loose connector some where. Today I put a new battery in and it started right away. Went out this mourning and it only clicked under the dash. (It was on the battery tender all night.)
Machiner 55
After it being on the batt. tender all night and it doesn't start (just clicks correct?) have you checked the battery voltage with the tender removed? If so, what is the reading. Hopefully you are using a digital multi-meter. John F.
rjfranken
Hi Bob's still watching; A way to find out about the starter is when it only clicks, take a stout stick (hammer or handle) and rap on the starter motor some and try again. If that works it means the starter. The brushes are getting short and hang in their keepers. Tapping it releases them and make firm contact to the armature completing the circuit. PS my 4 cars are still for sale
padgett
Check if the blower fan is running with a charged battery and the key out. A short in the module will run a battery down quickly.
jonlabree
I have changed out the starter and so far it has not played dead.
