Daves1940Buick56S
I am finally getting to replacing the rubber door weatherstrip on my '40 56S. The old 'strip was rotted and I basically scraped it off the door shortly after I got the car. I got replacement 'strip from Bob's but it is identical to what Steele sells. So I put it on one of the doors today and I had a heckuva time getting to door to close! I put it all the way around the door including along the bottom. Any of you '40 or '41 owners know if it goes all the way around the door like that? Cheers, Dave
Daves1940Buick56S
Never mind, situation is resolved. After sitting overnight the gasket took a set that reduced the opposing force, and I figured out that I could adjust the striker plate - duh! Buicknutty
Dave, I'm glad it worked out, but I had the same problem with door weatherstipping on my '41 Roadmaster. I bought what was billed as the correct stuff, but the door would only close when extreme force was used on it, and then I spoke with Doug Seybold, and he said that he has door weatherstrip that fits better, so, I bought more from him, and indeed it worked fine. Unfortunately too much time had passed for me to be able to return it to the vendor. Keith
