Went to the car wash today and started talking with the attendant about the car .Ended  up going through the car wash without shutting off the radio and the antenna was bent and won't go all the way down    A neighbor recommended a power antenna from Auto Zone and I was wondering had anyone used Auto Zone's replacement power antenna

Can't speak to AZ antennas but most here try to keep the cars close to factory.

You can do that by contacting Barney Eaton. He rebuilds them and makes them almost better than new.

I think you'd be happier with the way the original looks on the car and you won't have to fool around with a mis-mash of wires.

His would be plug and play.

Just my 2 cents.

I can repair your antenna.

I will replace the plastic line with a plastic coated steel line, plus replace the bent mast......... $50 plus return shipping of $15

Click on the red reatta and send me a note.

I'll pass along to be careful of inexpensive aftermarket power antennas. Put one on a car years ago and it rusted in under a year. Turns out the mast was made of chrome plated steel l, not stainless as with the OEM part. Moreover, the electrical connections are different from OEM meaning you need to chop the factory harness and thereby lose the ability to go back to stock easily. Bottom line, repair it or find a used factory part that works or can be rebuilt. Might require a bit more time and money but well worth it.

Back to Kevin's comments.

I have repaired several Corvette antennas that were sold to Corvette owners as exact replacements by a large Corvette place in Florida.

On the outside they look exactly like the originals but the mast are not of the same quality.....the big difference is the contacts at the bottom of each mast section.

This is intended to make contact with the mating section and give you a good signal from the antenna.   These antennas had no real contact, just a wrap of brass or copper if you are lucky, and

as the attached photo shows, sometime just a flair to keep the sections from coming apart.
