Guest Poncho48
Hi All ,New member here I am from Australia and as yet haven't sourced a a service manual.I do have a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner ( SilverStreak) straight 8 imported last year.Unfortunately looks like I've done a head gasket and am looking for the correct head bolt procedure when I reinstall.....I am hoping some one here has the info !Thanks in advance for any assistance Cheers
JACK M
Start in the middle and work your way out to the ends, sort of in a spiral circle. There is probably a chart for your engine, but this is basically what it will say. Guest Rastus
Also shown in Clinton's Auto Repair Manual 27th Edition& Motor Auto Repair Manual 15th EditionSo you're on the right track....Head gaskets fail for a few reasons. It is a good idea to establish exactly why, not just fit a new head gasket & hope for the best.If you wish give me a call tomorrow 0seven...fifty5 seventy5 eighty1 sixty
