WTB: Early 1930 Dodge DD wire wheels

Thanks Al. I hope you have the correct wheel. One wheel would at least let me roll it around. Please check the part number stamped into the wheel. The Canadian DA wheels look close to this, but aren't the same. I'll be watching for your pics.

Too bad you don't want wood spokes. Have a restored set with new tires

Before I went to wood wheels, I would put on a set of late 1930 wire wheels. I really want to keep this original (with the early 1930 wheels, as it is a rare car, only 742 built. Very few remain.

Did you try to compare the wire wheels on that 29 Dodge in the Dodge forum?  That car was messed with, as someone added homemade sidemount wells, so maybe the wires came from some other Dodge?

I can't tell by the pics in that thread by "Gunsmoke" if the back of the center hub of the wheel is as huge as the ones you need, or what lug pattern

Wheels are painful to look for.  They were mainly made by one wheel factory, and some are so close, but always seem to have differences.  I think every distinct car had a wheel that only was correct for that one car.   I've been looking for two Nash wires for 8 years, but found two that look so close, and fit..(one at a swap for $5, and one from Texas I found on a "what is it" thread on hamb $75)   The difference is only the OD of the center hub where it touches the drum; 3/4" difference.   I can use them in the sidemounts, where being that they are not bolted to a visible brake drum, the difference in the rear of center hub diameter does not seem noticeable.

This was not the first car I searched in vain for wires; One was a late 29 Desoto, and settled for a slight contour difference in the hub between outer/inner spokes.  Painful to not find the correct ones, but they can't be remade new.

One more option, if the wheels from Country Traveler are correct, but wrong bolt pattern; you can swap out the riveted inner piece inside the center hub.  We are talking desperation at that decision, if no correct ones ever show up.  The donor centers could come from a wire wheel from a different make car, or even spliced pieces of stamped steel 15-16" wheels.  Sounds sketchy to splice/weld, but hot-rodders have done such things like that for 60 years.

The wheels shown on that '29 DA are indeed DA wheels. They unfortunately won't work.
