Guest frcc16
I have to say that the further I get into this restoration, the more disgusted I become with the previous owners! I can understand rusted floor panels and cracked leaf springs, etc. What I don't understand is leak in the gas tank patched with fiberglass, hole drilled into dash for starter button cause the start position stopped working on the key switch, windlace NAILED to the body of the car. And, don't get me started about the spare tire that isn't even the same bolt pattern as the car! OK, sorry for the venting.... My task is to remove the stained headliner that someone stuck on in a hurry. It appears that I need to remove the windshield and rear window trims first, then work toward the middle of the car... Is this correct? and, are the windows going to fall out when I remove the interior window trim? Thanks! PS. Looks like all the dash wiring needs to be replaced. Is there a book of tricks on pulling the dash?
28 Chrysler
Yes start at the edges and work toward the center. No your windows should not fall out.If it is stained around the windows you may have other issues, like rust or the windows leaking. Bleach
By the sounds of the "work" done to the car by the PO, I might be a little concerned that windows might fall out. It might not be a bad idea to pull the glass and check if any sealant was ever used.
Rusty_OToole
Windows will not fall out, they are held by a rubber seal. Leaks indicate you have the original rubbers no doubt they are dried out, shrunken and leaking by now. You should replace the rubbers to stop the leaks, before you install the headliner. If there is rust under the rubber it must be repaired and painted. If the glass is "fogged" or scratched, now is the time to replace it. Especially the windshield. All your glass is flat, which makes it easy and cheap to buy at any auto glass shop.
Guest frcc16
The fun never stops!!! Every 3rd screw I remove from the front lights is the wrong screw for the hole! I literally just removed a wood screw from a fine thread hole on the front directional lense!! What kind of monster would do such a thing!!! Time to buy a tap set!!!
