Joseph44
Hi everyone: Been awhile I have a question: Why when I blow my horn on the 63 impala s s do my lites dim? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'll say Thanks guys in advance!!!!!
Rusty_OToole
My guess is the lights and horn are on the same circuit, and the power supply is reduced by corrosion or a loose wire. Or even a corroded fuse. I would start looking around the fuse panel or light switch. Do you have a wiring diagram?
Joseph44
Hi Rust_Toole; No sir I have no print avalible if you have one could you e-mail me a print? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your input!!!
Rusty_OToole
Sorry don't have one. You should buy a manual for your car, they turn up at auto flea markets and on EBay. There are probably online sellers as well. Wiring diagram is in the factory manual.

37_Roadmaster_C
Joseph,There appears to only be two common points between the horn and the rest of the car including the lights... One is the battery positave terminal and the second is a common positave stud. There is a wiring diagram for your car here: http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/tOCMP/wiring/5765wiring%20diagrams/chevroletindex.htmHave a look and check and clean the connections as men tioned above.R

sambarn
Also, excluding lights, the horn is thehighest amperage pull on an electric system, If you have other high draw accessories ( stereo, A/C) You could be reaching the amperage capabilities of a stock alternator. Joseph44
Thanks sambarn: But there is no a/c, no stero nothing that would pull high amperage. I appreciate the help though and thank you!!!
