Magnus707
I am planning to change my manual gear box from 1936 to a newer one. I was lucky I fióund a manual transmission from 1953 with OD (R10). Do any have some ideas how much trouble I will run in to? Will the R10 <gs id="a550fd16-cf6c-4db5-9d78-c922ebdd81fa" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="a71284c5-569f-4de8-a7f5-f8e11bcb12d5" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark"><gs id="7ff29b33-4519-4a24-990e-777306640ea2" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="52b089c5-b71f-4469-a923-ae2195809db3" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">fit</gs></gs> at all? The OD is a selector base gearbox and they didn't have floor shift. Anyone having some experience from doing this?
GLong
First thoughts: is the trans overall length the same? If not, the driveshaft would have to be shortened or a new one made.Is there a parking brake on the end of the original trans? is there one on the '53 trans? If not. some sort of parking brake is needed to be adapted to the trans. Are the mounting bolt holes the same spacing as the original trans mounting bolts ? If not, an adapter or different bellhousing is needed.are the splines on the input shaft the same as on the old trans's? if not, a different clutch disc is needed. All in all a lot of potential obstacles to overcome to do the swap. Or, it might just bolt right in!! GLong
Magnus707
The length are not the same. The parking brake is the same type, sitting on the end of the transmission. However, they are on opposite sides. The trickiest part the shifter, it's a selection gear box. I am not sure how to rebuild that <gs id="1d5de459-9865-42a4-85f6-887c0b6ea6a6" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="5713d35c-7a51-4d66-963a-09c2dae2b286" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">to</gs> small <gs id="66771096-36ec-43e9-8f7f-9096ca17183f" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="5713d35c-7a51-4d66-963a-09c2dae2b286" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">floor</gs> shifter (not so much space. <gs id="2e668ccc-b81c-4cd0-9897-944a4c32ca8f" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="56bc8788-807f-402e-865e-f8f770976f10" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">Bult</gs> <gs id="c04e3835-aadd-41f1-aecb-d3561f5d00b2" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="56bc8788-807f-402e-865e-f8f770976f10" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark"><gs id="df217cf3-c407-4666-980c-1a1ea4331b29" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="64863d9d-2c71-418a-a51a-34ecb2151977" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">pattern</gs>a</gs> see<gs id="a72334ef-d62f-4160-a6fb-83d4d8307637" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="c25b326a-5e39-44a6-bd70-1fbecb3de2cb" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">ms</gs> <gs id="ededbfb7-061a-4f6b-b866-93f502679df7" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="c25b326a-5e39-44a6-bd70-1fbecb3de2cb" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">to b</gs>e<gs id="02c05e28-9d13-4bbc-8ac0-9a04ab6a0a49" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="c25b326a-5e39-44a6-bd70-1fbecb3de2cb" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark"> the sam</gs>e.
