Guest drewbhelge
I just acquired a new project - my plan is to restore it, so maybe we can help each other? My car is a 1940 American Bantam Convertible Sedan. I am in both Austin / Bantam Clubs. I do not (currently) have any "extra" parts, and I am in need of hubcaps, as well.Hank Albro (now deceased) made Hubcaps for Bantams. They were baby moon caps with 'Bantam' silk-screened on them. What kind of Bantam are you restoring? and where are you located?Drew

Guest 1hooligan
The reason the door is so rare, is it is from the convertable, they made very few, and over the years the remaining few have been restored. May be less than 50 in total still out there. I restored a 41 and it took three years to find an engine. the horror story is it was shipped out UPS and some idiot put a fork lift thru the engine. Their insurance company eventually had to buy a complete restored 41 and give me the engine.
Jim Rohn
so is it worth $50 or $500 or ?
Guest 1hooligan
I would say that the value is between $250-400. The higher end if there is no rust, and the latch is intact.

Guest orphanbaby
I have owned Austin and Bantam coupes and roadsters since 1979. Your door will fit American Austin roadsters (1930-1934) and American Bantam roadsters (1938-1940). The only difference is in the latch mechanism. Your mechanism is American Bantam. Austin roadsters shaped flat metal stock for roadster door handles, but Bantam used traditional handles that looked similar to 1936 Ford. From what I've seen, the value is closer to the $250 range than the $400 range, and the fact that the only volume supplier of American Austin and Bantam parts was not interested in buying it should give you some idea of the demand. That said, you should contact the American Austin Bantam Club. The newsletter editors are very helpful. They will run a non-member lead in their newsletter. If anybody needs it, they can contact you. You just need to provide your name, address and price. Contact them via AustinBantamClub.com.
