coke_and_stuff Posted May 1, 2007 Share Posted May 1, 2007 Just want to post and introduce myself and my car, My name is Joey VanMatre, Im 22 years old and live in North Central Arkansas and here is my car its a 1957 Cadillac 2 door hardtop, Needs a total frame off restoratin but one of these days she will roam the streets again. You have the opportunity to learn all aspects of restoration with it, lots of work, but it looks as if it can be done in stages so you wont get discouraged. When you finally tag it and fire it up for it's maiden cruise, be careful not to hurt yourself with the ear to ear grin you WILL be wearing, for weeks! The guy selling was liquidating a 22 year colletion of more than 150 cars he didnt even know what year car this was. At the time I had been looking at old 50's Cadillacs and threw my bid in at the last few seconds, with fingers crossed I was very glad I had won. Car was about 2 hrs from here and I went and picked her up. The 4 door I bought out of Missouri it cost alot more than the 2 door but is a parts goldmine. From the 4 door ill be able to make a perfect grille, It has a very nice drivers side fender, a transmission that the 2 door doesnt have, the 365 V8 was actually running last year, and alot of misc parts that are better than what I have. Bought my first old Buick when I was 22 but had to sell it to buy my new bride a washing machine. Moral..., make sure your wife to be has her own washing machine. Keep up the good work restoring your piece of history. Don't get discouraged as at times you will. The reward will be the satisfaction and pride when you finish the project and get the admiring smiles and thumbs up from passersby as you drive proudly down the road. Ah well... such as life. We have to be honest in our appraisals and realistic about what we can do.
