Do I have the wrong mirror on my 1950 56R?

I don't mind if I have this wrong mirror for now but I might want to replace it with an identical one that is in nicer condition. I don't think that this is the correct one because I see other 56R same year with a different mirror.

The original style mirror for your car would have been screwed to the chrome pillar of the door just in front of the vent window. In many states outside rear view mirrors were not required thil the 60's so many cars were sold new without them, and then retro-fitted when it became manditory.

I will buy some of the correct ones but if I came across some nice ones just like the one on the car I would consider using them until I feel like filling the holes left in the door.

Pete:

The e-bay link was to a pair of AFTERMARKET clamp-on mirrors (the give-away is the two set-screws on the bottom plate) Most vendors have these for 25-30 bucks each. A pair of reproduction "king bee" mirrors (the correct style that screws directly to the door will set you back closer to $140-$150 a pair.
