Funny restoration story

Well if you can't laugh at yourself, then who can

When I went to stick in the original light bulb tonight, I noticed it only had one filament. Well duh maybe that?s why the right headlight never had any high beams. When I got the car I found a note in the glove box referencing a loose connector causing the right high beam not to work. I never investigated it any further and I assumed I would fix the problem when I rewired the car. I never thought to look at the bulb as the note had mislead me. Also I wasn't too concerned as I never drove the car at night. I did lose a point or so at the concours. Oh sometime the obvious is not obvious enough.

Is it that obvious looking through the glass lenses?

Very interesting that CCCA checks all that. Does the Packard Club also check to see if all components are functioning?

I give you all credit who go to them lengths to make them correct. It sure is tuff for us little guys to get there unless we hit the lotto or find a way to get the gold pot at the end of the rainbow.

We did a good bit of work prepping a '32 902 for a CCCA show. The owner did not want the cigarette lighter to be wired due to safety concerns. CCCA checks the operation of lighters. What to do? With a tiny bit of orange/red paint we painted a nice glow on the element and dirtied it up with a few ashes. Judge pushed in the lighter, waited the appropriate amount of time, pulled out the lighter and ok'd its operation.

I had my T-Bird in a modify class at a T-Bird meet. I had disconnected all of the vacuum stuff that controlled door locks etc. When the judges asked me to operate some items like the door locks, I indicated that they were modified not to work I saved a bunch of points and ended up with a 1st place.

I never do lock the T-Bird. I do have an alarm system installed though. The night before the show I did have to make a quick dash to the auto store to get a cigarette lighter socket. I had never had installed it as it was not visable and I didn't use it. So I installed it and saved points when I had to show it working.
