Where have most people found is the best mounting position for an electric pump?

I'm doing a '62 Olds Dynamic, which, of course, has the tank mounted in front of the trunk floor. I'm using a Holley Red elec. pump.

Trying to keep the pump as close to the tank as I can, and as low as possible without interference from the suspension or the exhaust pipe. I'd like to mount it on the inside rear of the frame, behind the trunk floor, but am wondering about the effectiveness routing fuel lines to the back, then towards the front of the car.

Has anyone run into this? <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The best place I found on my 1961 (same frame) is where the rubber fuel lines meet the steel just in front of the right rear wheel. You will have to find some isolaters to mount the pump or it will be very noisy. I am using the windshield wiper motor isolaters from a 1964 Olds.

Good luck, Dave

You want it as close to the tank as possible. Long as you have no kinks in the rubber lines, your location sounds OK. I like Dave's ideas a lot too. Been wondering where to put one on my 64 since there hain't a whole lotta room around the rear axle. It needs new rubber lines front and back anyway. Might be a next year project.

'Course I put new rubber lines and a new fuel pump on the blue 64 , and haven't been able to get fuel to the carb since.

I put an Autopluse on an old 1953 Dodge V-8 one hot Kansas City summer right under the driver?s seat but on the frame as it was the easiest place to put it. It was very reassuring to hear it pump away until it stopped and then you turned the key to start it as you knew there was fuel in the carburetor, it never failed. When the engine was running I couldn?t hear it.
