I have a 1932 Chrysler CI sedan and recently found a number stenciled on the firewall

this number is also stamped into the sheet metal on the fire wall

does any one know what this is?

Stencil Reads "22400 DG" or possibly DC

Stamped Number Reads 22400

Any help will be greatly appreciated

I think 22400 is the paint and striping code, was this car originally brown? The DG or DC suffix may be the wheel code. Do you have a copy of the shipping order?

Hi Donald, Sorry I'm late getting to this thread. Just discovered it. My 1933 De Soto coupe had the numbers 213X353DG on the firewall. These are sales codes that were inaugurated in Nov. of 1932. 213 is the upholstery and 353 identifies the color scheme for body, fenders and stripe. Don't know what the X or DG mean. An earlier reply guessed the DG might identify the wheels. My car has 17" wire wheels.
