I wonder if that is the same Alan Kriss that used to life across the street from where I grew up in Union, NJ. I haven't lived there since I got married 25 years ago, but my dad is still there. He has/had a 57 Buick wagon that I almost never saw out of the garage, a 63 Coupe DeVille. He also had a 66 Olds Starfire and a 65 Cadillac that were his father's. I don't know if he took the cars with him when he moved this year. I haven't seen him in many years. In my memory, I do not recall seeing any car newer than 1966 parked at his house. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Yup, one and the same person. I chatted with him yesterday. He said he sort of misses Union since it was the only home he knew but he likes the rural life in PA. He didn't mention his cars. BTW, if anyone needs radio or instrument work done I don't know of anyone doing a better job at any price........Bob.

He must have made quite an impression on a certain teenager 35 years ago. I did not know him that well, but I knew then that someday I would like to own an old car, someday I will.....

Somehow I don't consider my 72 Chevy that old because, they were new when I was in high school. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

It's a funny thing about perspective of age, back in the early 70's, his 57 Buick was really only about 15 years old, but to a 15 year old teenager, that was really ancient. One of the mysteries of life??????

I still remember the story he told me about when he got the wagon, when his dad bought the new 66 Starfire. He insisted to his father that he buy the Starfire with the buckets & console, instead of one of the lesser models. Maybe he thought that someday he would come to own it, and years later he did. Unfortunately all his cars with the exception of the Buick wagon sat outside in the weather. I sadly watched them deteriorate over the years. In hindsight, maybe I should have kept in touch with him. I certainly had the opportunity every time I went to my father's house. Nevertheless, I hope he is doing well.

He sounded well, certainly had no complaints to me. I've never met him. What would you estimate his age to be? I was thinking maybe 40 to 50 from the sound of his voice but it sounds like I was on the low side.

Purely a guess....I will be 50 in Jan '07, and when I was a teenager I thought he was several years older than me, but then again, I have never been a good judge of age. I do know that he was driving for several years before I was. My guess mid to late 50's??

He's a pretty interesting and easy person to talk to. I've had several pleasant conversations with him. BTW, I know Union, NJ. I used to live in Metuchen and I lost my license for speeding on rt 22 in my 54 ford with a 56 Buick engine, but that was quite awhile ago.
