1953/54 Buick Skylark National Meet Photos

Dean and Linda Eldridge of the North Cascade Chapter BCA hosted the 2006 Skylark Club National Meet at their home in the Frontier Airpark northeast of Seattle.

Skylark owners and enthusiasts flew in from around the country, and participated in numerous tours. The goal was to travel on all tours in vintage Buicks, so several North Cascade Chapter members chauffered out-of-town guests in their collector Buicks. Other chapter members actually loaned their collector Buicks to the Skylark guests, so many local Buick enthusiasts extended hospitality to the meet participants.

The meet culminated in a picnic and car show on August 20 at the Eldridge's property.

I managed to snap a few photos of the Skylarks shown. My twin daughters lacked patience with this event, and I lacked patience with the twins. I called it quits early, so I have few details about the cars or their owners. Nonetheless, I figured you all might enjoy a few photos.

Here is Dean and Linda's '53, which many of you saw in Flint in 2003:

The yellow and red '53 is another Washington car that was painted in this color scheme shortly after delivery to the original owner. The car was painted to match the owner's boat, and a supercharger was also added to the car when it was quite new.

In the background of this next photo, you'll see the large, vintage neon Buick dealership sign illuminated on one of Dean's buildings.

Dean found the 1954 Skylark owners to be especially elusive, so a single example was displayed. This car was my personal favorite.

Wow!!! What an event this was. And look at all those nice Buicks on the other side of the road too.. I really hope I have this planned right and will be able to see those cars at the national in 07.
