New York to Paris Race

So has anyone else heard much about the 100th anniversary of the 1908 NY to Paris race? I live about 45 minutes from some of the people over it, and I cannot find out jack,.... they sure are sitting on the information. I know two Australian teams who have done the asiatic race (18,000 miles!) and who have American LaFrance conversions that would be great for the race, but they are totally in the datrk about information. If this is an ongoing thing, why don't they try and involve more old car people? <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> [color:"red"] [color:"black"]

Maybe it because I have been involved with the group from San Marcos but I know about the race and know where you can find information.

Check out http://www.greatrace2008.com/ and look around. The have entry forms and all the info you need. But be aware, you need to submit your entry by December 31st.

The group that runs this race are a good bunch and I look forward to running their race in Texas again.

Just found this thread. It's too bad it did not happen as Bill and the boys were going to take our picture-cars (Thomas Flyer and German Protos) on the route with them to help promote our film and generate some PR for their race. The show is airing on Superchannel in Canada. There are pictures of the build of the cars and more details on the actual race as well as a link to purchase the DVD. Cheers. Michael. Actually the 100th year Great Race Centennial did happen ( NYC to San Francisco) and included Jeff Mahl, George Shuster's grandson. It involved an informal group of people who were strangers prior to the drive. We followed the original route as close as possible for the entire distance....it was a great trip!!

Go to www.longestautoracecent.com for more information.

It was my pleasure to hang with The Longest Auto Race Centennial group for a spell last year and help them navigate through the wilds of Utah. It was one of the funnest things I've ever done.

Just want to thank you again for all your help....especially when Ray got lost on that unmarked desert road west of Promentory(sp) for several hours. You were the only one who actually knew where we were

John

By the way, Luke and our group are currently looking into an around the world adventure.
