This was Fran's first Asheville sale. The fella is from Charlotte, & did not belong to AACA. Believe me, Fran & I double-teamed him by putting a national app in his hands & telling him to contact the Hornets Nest Region that serves his area. Told him we'd send out our 'spys' to make sure he joins up, too! Of course, as newsletter editor, I had camera in hand to take advantage of the situation!

At all times I was right were I was suppose to be. (except as a car owner during the show. I out ranked myself as judge, NC Region webmaster, Alamance Region webmaster and The Coil Wire editor over car owner) I bought my ticket from Fran between the roundtable meeting and the judging school. That was the third judging school I've been to this year.

If you got your ticket on Friday, it may have been when I went to the automotive school tour at Blue Ridge tech with those who signed up. I also had to do double duty as 50/50 ticket seller. Being that I know the instructor Stan had a little Ford bus under construction, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to sell $160 worth of wrap-around-the-bus ticket sales! Hulon McCraw claims to have witnessed me getting money out of stones before (don't always believe what you hear, but that may be pretty close), so that is my 'permenent duty' (sorta like the newsletter).

Hello to all, I have been on the Eastern Divisional Tour and enjoying the beauty of the mountains and the cooler air. It was a great tour and some people bought raffle tickets. I do need to convince many of you who read this Forum that this is a wonderful way to support this great hobby of ours. There will be a winner and it may be you. But if it is not you; you have still won---YOU have contributed money into the three organizations of your Antique Automobile hobby. The raffle benefits the AACA Library, the AACA Museum and the AACA National.

I will tell you a story told to me by a man who refused to buy a ticket from me. He said. "I gave the Library money when it was formed.I gave $25.00 at that time and now you are asking for more. What did you do with that money?" I said, "It was well appreciated and well spent and now we need to continue to support this organization and the other organizations of our hobby."

Several times we have had such great support from this group on the Forum and now as we come closer to the end of this raffle; how about setting another response record?

You can contact Steve at headquarters or me and we will get your tickets to you. I just mailed out four stubs today as when I came home from the tour, there were two checks for four tickets. Fabulous! Remember, if you do not want the car; the winner may select to receive $20,000.

These tickets sell best when you folks buy. So we are waiting for you. We have a ticket just for YOU. You can't win if you don't buy and with us coming down to the wire now on tickets; you do want to get into the raffle. We will be selling at Macungie so if you are going there to see the cars and eat the great food; stop at the AACA trailer and see the Solstice car and buy a ticket or several. Come on and let me hear from you or contact Steve for some tickets. Tell him I sent you.

It does not matter who gets the credit for the sale of the Solstice raffle tickets. It is easier for headquarters to mail the tickets and do the contact but I do have some tickets and can do it as well. The concept to remember is that when you buy a ticket, you are giving support to the hobby and to the three organizations of AACA. It is a winning gift that YOU give to help our Antique Car hobby. Now if you have said,"I'll do it later", change those words to "I'll do it now". If each person who enjoys reading and some writing on this forum of our great hobby would buy one ticket [and some have] we could blow the top off of the thermometer. Wouldn't that be great!

Update on ticket sales---YOU better hurry if you have not yet bought that ticket. Think what YOU would look like in that car- OR your wife would wear a smile for ever. Don't want the car; no problem, how does $20,000 sound?

And if you do not win; it is all tax deductible as well as giving you a good feeling about supporting your hobby.

We have just gone way below the 300 mark on ticket sales left to do. In fact; we'll hold one for YOU so hurry and get in touch with headquarters (or see us at Macungie if you are in that area and going to be there any of the three days.) We are going to be selling there and the car will be there in all of its snazzy glory.
