Guest De Soto Frank
There is a Willys-Knight registry, and a Club, I believe.Generally speaking, the Willys-Knights were up-scale Willys products, featuring the Knight Sleeve-Valve engine ("the only motor that actually improves with use!"), as opposed to the regular old Overland and Whippet cars that were in the Plymouth-Ford-Chevy category.W-K cars are nifty and substantial looking; when the engine is in good condition, they are especially quiet-running for cars of that period (due to the absence of "poppet valves", lifters, tappets, etc). They also could burn huge quantities of oil as the mileage racked-up... the later Knight-engined cars used a device that was designed scavenge the oil vapors out of the crankcase and reclaim them, which reduced oil consupmtion somewhat.Other than that, they were fairly typical cars; styling somewhat resembled mid-20's Buicks... typical composite wood-framed/steel skinned bodies...If you're looking at buying one, try to make sure it's as complete as possible...There are two c. 1925 Willys-Knight sedans that show at Macungie every August...I believe both are unrestored survivors... Guest Debby Soucia
Thanks Frank!Thats more then I have found on the internet looking. We were wondering if they were rare like the Hupmobile. That you don't see these at lots of shows. We seam to take to the cars you don't see at the shows, LOLI want my next car to have a rumble seat as my mother used to have to ride in one when she was young. I am also looking for a 1929 Ford Roadster pickup too. I found one at Hershey 6 years ago and we did not have the money then for it. Still looking for something unusual.Debby
JFranklin
Search word WOKR, I belong to this club due to owning 2 Willys Knight Cars, it is the acronym for Willys Overland Knight Regestry. I also like the less common cars and have a Hupmobile 1928 model A sedan and a 1922 Nash 4 Touring.
Peter J.Heizmann
Hi, Debby...More factual information than you can imagine is a click away: AACA Library on the main page.Peter J. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
ex98thdrill
My dad and I have a 1929 Whippet coupe with a rumble seat. Whippet was also a division of Willys corporation, so the car that you are making reference to should be fairly close to ours.
