Newsletter Editors, this may sound dumb!

Recommended Posts

I've picked up a couple of new newsletter exchange friends and just noticed, as I have in the past, that a lot of newsletters do not have the "area" codes for contact phone numbers for officers or members in their region.

This may sound unimportant, but a lot of us like a personal contact phone call when asking for info of giving advice, whatever. It's tough looking up area codes for large cities when you're from the country and "Zelda" has always done it for you in the past on your "party" line.

Wayne, it's nice they have activies to report on. You 've seen my newsletter and what little I'm trying to strech into a newletter. This is the first "real" newsletter my region has ever had. For 38 years the newsletter was nothing more than a letter stating when/where the meeting was to be held and briefly was was going to be brought up to the club in the meeting.

If you noticed since I've been doing the newsletter, the area codes have been listed. We have members in two area codes and some members to call others require long distance phone calls.

David, We have the same problem with area codes that are different. The thing is that if newsletters are circulated between a lot of us, the "For Sale" items may move faster because of circulation. I've also reprinted some of the best articles of interest from other regions that were much better than anything I ever wrote. The newsletter exchange program is the most important aspect of our club newsletter. Between that and the "Rummage Box", you can't go wrong. Wayne

I couldn't agree with that more. We have members in 3-4 states (in the winter its 4), & it's critical to have those area codes for not only officer listings but for sale items. I go so far as to list the town the item for sale is so anyone interested will have an idea of how far away it is.

Even worst West, I got four in the mail today. In reading through one I could not even find out who the editor was! I'll be contacting them even though they receive mine each month. They don't all have to be pretty, but they certainly need the required items. I may help with a seminar this year, if I get out of my douldrums and are asked. Wayne
