padgett
How do you get to the %^%%@!@* cap nut that holds the front of the door molding (with the Reatta legend) onto the door ? Is the last thing to do and seems to be directly behind the lower hinge.
Jim
It is a 7/16s nut and I take them off and put them on with a 1/4 inch drive socket with a swivel adapter just behind the socket.
padgett
Found the problem and when the wiring accordion is in the right place, is just room for the socket. (When in the wrong place, you cannot see it).Now the real question: how do you get the molding onto the clips without using excessive force ? From service manual can see that two feet face down (see att) and you start molding from bottom but it just does not seem to want to go.
Roadster90
No one answered last question yet ... any one familiar with the clips please?
padgett
I now have the info: you push up and engage from the bottom and then pop with an open hand to hook the top. Cannot just hang from the top and pop the bottom though. Door will give (dent) before anything useful happens.BTW if you have a foot of 1/4 extensions, an 11 mm short socket can hold and turn the cap nut to attach. Goes in right between the top of the bottom hinge and the bottom of the accordion. With window down can reach over the sill and hold the molding in place while attaching.
